Februar 2018 wurde der große türkische Intellektuelle Ahmet Altan in der Türkei zu lebenslanger Haft verurteilt. Altan ist einer der wichtigsten, mutigsten Journalisten der Türkei, der immer offen gesagt hat, was er denkt. Ihm wird vorgeworfen, »unterschwellige Botschaften« über den Putschversuch im Jahr 2016 verbreitet zu haben. Am 26. September 2018 wird im S. Fischer Verlag »Ich werde die Welt nie wieder sehen. Texte aus dem Gefängnis« erscheinen. Es ist eine beeindruckende Sammlung teilweise sehr persönlicher, fast philosophischer Texte, in denen Altan auf eindringliche Weise über Freiheit, sein Leben im Gefängnis und die politische Situation in der Türkei schreibt. Ein eindrucksvolles Buch und wichtiges Zeugnis. Zum Erscheinen jährt sich seine Verhaftung zum zweiten Mal, denn seit dem 23. September 2016 sitzt er in Untersuchungshaft.
