Chander Pahar (English: Mountain of the Moon) is a Bengali adventure novel written by Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay and published in 1937. The novel follows the adventures of a young Bengali man in the forests of Africa. The novel is one of the most-loved adventure novels in the Bengali literature and is one of Bibhutibhushan's most popular works. It spawned a media franchise.

১৯৫০-৫১ সালের রবীন্দ্র পুরষ্কার প্রাপ্ত রচনা। ইছামতী একটি ছোট নদী। অন্তত যশোর জেলার মধ্য দিয়ে এর যে অংশ প্রবাহিত, সেটুকু। দক্ষিণে ইছামতী কুমির-কামট-হাঙ্গর-সংকুল বিরাট নোনা গাঙে পরিণত হয়ে কোথায় কোন সুন্দরবনে সুঁদ্‌রি-গরান গাছের জঙ্গলের আড়ালে বঙ্গোপসাগরে মিশে গিয়েচে, সে খবর যশোর জেলার গ্রাম্য অঞ্চলের কোনো লোকই রাখে না।

Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay was one of the greatest writers in modern Bengali literature, best known for his autobiographical novel Pather Panchali, which, along with another of Bandyopadhyay's books, formed the basis for Satyajit Ray's classic Apu Trilogy. In this semi-autobiographical novel, Satyacharan is a young graduate in 1920s Calcutta, who, unable to find a job in the city, takes up the post of a 'manager' of a vast tract of forested land in neighboring Bihar. As he is increasingly enchanted and hypnotized by the exquisite beauty of nature, he is burdened with the painful task of clearing this land for cultivation. As ancient trees fall to the cultivator's axe, indigenous tribes--to whom the forest had been home for millennia--lose their ancient way of life. The promise of 'progress' and 'development' brings in streams of landless laborers, impoverished schoolmasters and starving boys from around the region, and the narrator chronicles in visionary prose the tale of destruction and dispossession that is the universal saga of man's struggle to bend nature to his will. Written in 1937-39, and now available in English translation, Aranyak is an unforgettable account of hard lives in a place of vanishing beauty, preserved here for all time by a brilliant artist.

Pather Panchali , translated as Song of the Road is a novel written by Bibhutibhushan Bandyopadhyay and was later adapted into a film of the same name by Satyajit Ray. Pather Panchali deals with the life of the Roy family, both in their ancestral village in rural Bengal and later when they move to Varanasi in search of a better life, as well as the anguish and loss they face during their travels.It first appeared as a serial in a Calcutta periodical in 1928 and was published as a book the next year; it was the first published novel written by the author.It was followed in 1932 by a sequel Aparajito, which was later also adapted into a film of the same name by Satyajit Ray.
