Each time when the book is finished, both of my eyes are full of tears. Each word in these series of books represents hard work and time and dedication and care for human health. These series are not just written down but are worked down. Science life is not always smooth and sometimes is extremely difficult. Science is endless. Only those who are not afraid of failure or risk can reach the summit of the mountain. In medical history the Greek physician Hippocrates (460–370 BC), who is considered the Father of Medicine, was credited to the origin of the name cancer. He used the terms carcinos and carcinoma to recount non-ulcer-forming and ulcer-forming tumors. In Greek, these words refer to a crab because the finger-like spreading projections from cancer were similar to the shape of a crab. In his books, there are some records that also were written down: “Everyone has a physician inside him or her; we just have to help it in its work. The natural healing force within each of us is the greatest force in getting well. Let our food as our medicine, and let medicine be our food.”

Π-conjugated systems of delocalized aromatic electrons along their backbones, including conjugated small molecules, oligomers, polymers, and carbonaceous materials, etc., have received considerable attention from a wide variety of scientific and technical communities. Compared to inorganic materials, the advantages of those based on π-tectons lie in their broad diversity, flexibility, and tunability with regard to structure/geometry/morphology, processability, composition, functionality, electronic/band structure, etc. In terms of sophisticated molecular engineering, these features endow them not only with excellent self-assembly properties but also with unique optical, electrical, mechanical, photophysical, photochemical, and biochemical attributes. This renders them promising scaffolds for advanced functional materials (AFMs) in numerous areas of general interest such as electronics, optics, optoelectronics, photovoltaics, magnetic and piezoelectric devices, sensors, catalysts, biomedicines, and others. With regard to the design/synthesis of novel π-tectons, the launch of diverse assembly/fabrication protocols, theoretical calculations, etc., the past several decades have witnessed tremendous advancements along this direction. Thus far, a vast array of high-performance π-tectons-based AFMs have been initiated. To some extent, the cooperative principle of π-πstacking and other noncovalent interactions has been revealed, and the structure-property relationships have been disclosed. Despite the existing progress, this field still faces challenges, for example: (i) the need for scalable assembly/manufacture under ambient conditions—with low-cost, facile, environmentally-friendly protocols (ii) clearer correlations bridging the underlying intricate relationships of each successive step in assembly/manufacture (iii) corresponding theoretical calculations for guiding the rational design of π-tectons that elucidate the cooperative principle of π-π stacking and other noncovalent interactions, as well as the principle of structure-performance correlation (iv) stability and durability, among the most important concerns regarding their commercialization The advancements accumulated during the past decades have established a solid foundation for the further development of π-conjugated systems-based AFMs. We believe that with unrelenting efforts from both scientific and technical communities of various backgrounds, their practical applications will eventually be fulfilled. The overall design and the planning and the blueprint of XZ-C’s plans of conquering cancer are the scientific thinking and the theoretical innovation, and the experimental basis of conquering cancer are the reform and development of the overall strategy of cancer treatment. It is the crystallization of my sixty years of experience in medical work and thirty years of scientific research results and achievement, scientific and technological innovation, scientific thinking, and scientific research wisdom. The direction of the research is to conquer cancer. It is proposed that a test area will be set up in Wuhan City, Huang Jiahu University City, and the implementation of this research program will be done by my research team of experts, professors, and so on. The scientific research plan of conquering cancer puts the focus on scientific research in the international front, and it is the forefront of science. In January 12, 2016, the US president Barack Obama, in his State of the Union address, addressed the national cancer program “to conquer cancer” and named the new moon plan (Cancer Moonshot). The vice president, Joe Biden, was responsible for the implementation. Its specific plan is unknown. Cancer is a disaster of mankind. We struggle with cancer all over the world, and people of the world struggle together, gather wisdom, and move forward together to overcome cancer. The cancer disaster covers the world. People worldwide are eager to overcome cancer one day. It is the urgent hope that the states, the governments, the experts, the scholars, and the scientists can find anticancer measures to keep people safe from cancer.
