LaToya Ruby Frazier's intimate photographs of working-class families in the former steelworking and coalmining hubs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Borinage, Belgium Frazier's (born 1982) portraits reflect both a political engagement with and a personal investment in her subject matter. This book presents her seminal series The Notion of a Family, in which she documents three generations of her own family in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, alongside two more recent projects: On the Making of Steel Genesis: Sandra Gould Ford (2017), made in close collaboration with artist and steelworker Sandra Gould Ford; and Et des terrils un arbre s'élèvera (2016-17), made with the people of Mons in Borinage, Belgium, once home to a coalmine. Following a long tradition of photography as a tool for political activism, Frazier's intimate photographs provide insight into the daily lives of those most affected by the industries' decline.

L'œuvre du cinéaste Morgan Fisher est aujourd'hui en voie d'obtenir le succès qu'elle mérite, mais la place originale qu'elle occupe – à l'intersection du cinéma avec la peinture, l'installation, l'architecture, la vidéo, le dessin et la photographie – reste à explorer, tout comme son impact sur de nouvelles générations d'artistes. Principalement ancré dans la filmographie de Fisher, ce recueil envisage celle-ci en rapport avec les nombreux autres travaux de l'artiste, souvent récents, qui en étendent et recomposent le paysage. Il explore la temporalité très particulière créée par les interventions structurelles de Fisher. Les gestes artistiques qu'elles déploient sont gouvernés par une interrogation constante des rapports paradoxaux qu'entretient l'apparition sensuelle de l'image avec des hors-champs tout à la fois convoqués et réprimés. Les chercheurs, artistes et critiques ici rassemblés dessinent la silhouette inédite d'une œuvre fondamentalement marquée par l'amour du cinématographe en même temps qu'elle le déborde de toute part, avec une fertilité sans pareille.

Ten years after its remarkable presentation in Luxembourg, this book (co-published by Mudam and Casino Luxembourg - Forum d'art contemporain) returns to Lady Rosa of Luxembourg, one of the biggest projects carried out in public space by Croatian artist Sanja Ivekovic. Echoing the exhibition presented at Mudam, the publication starts with the project in order to explore central issues concerning Ivekovic's practice. It notably brings together previously unpublished texts by Enrico Lunghi and Bojana Pejic, as well as an interview with the artist. An archive section also retraces the polemic incited by the project when first presented. The presentation will be staged as a discussion between artist Sanja Ivekovic, art historian Bojana Pejic and the director of Mudam an curator of the exhibition Enrico Lunghi.
