This volume contains the proceedings of UIC 2008, the 5th International C- ference on Ubiquitous Intelligence and Computing: Building Smart Worlds in Real and Cyber Spaces. The conference was held in Oslo, Norway, during June 23–25, 2008. The event was the ?fth meeting of this conference series. USW 2005 (First International Workshop on Ubiquitous Smart World), held in March 2005 in Taiwan, was the ?rst event in the series. This event was followed by UISW 2005 (SecondInternationalSymposiumonUbiquitousIntelligenceandSmartWorlds) held in December 2005 in Japan, by UIC 2006 (Third International Conference on Ubiquitous Intelligence and Computing: Building Smart Worlds in Real and Cyber Spaces) held in September 2006 in Wuhan and Three Gorges, China, and by UIC 2007 held in July 2007 in Hong Kong. Ubiquitous computers, networks and information are paving the road to a smart world in which computational intelligence is distributed throughout the physical environment to provide trustworthy and relevant services to people.

This book constitutes the refereed procedings of the 5th International Conference on Autonomic and Trusted Computing, ATC 2008, held in Oslo, Norway, in June 2008, co-located with UIC 2008, the 5th International Conference on Ubiquitous Intelligence and Computing. The 25 revised full papers presented together with 26 special session papers and 1 keynote talk were carefully reviewed and selected from 75 submissions. The regular papers are organized in topical sections on intrusion detection, trust, trusted systems and crypto, autonomic computing, organic computing, knowledge and patterns, and pervasive systems. The special session papers cover issues such as organic computing, trust, trust and dependable systems, routing and reliable systems, sensor networks, VoIP, and watermarking.

Welcome to the proceedings of the 2010 International Conference on Future Gene- tion Communication and Networking (FGCN 2010) – one of the partnering events of the Second International Mega-Conference on Future Generation Information Te- nology (FGIT 2010). FGCN brings together researchers from academia and industry as well as practit- ners to share ideas, problems and solutions relating to the multifaceted aspects of communication and networking, including their links to computational sciences, mathematics and information technology. In total, 1,630 papers were submitted to FGIT 2010 from 30 countries, which - cludes 228 papers submitted to the FGCN 2010 Regular Sessions. The submitted papers went through a rigorous reviewing process: 395 of the 1,630 papers were - cepted for FGIT 2010, while 45 papers were accepted the FGCN 2010 Regular S- sions. Of the 45 papers, 8 were selected for the special FGIT 2010 volume published by Springer in LNCS series. 29 papers are published in this volume, and 8 papers were withdrawn due to technical reasons. We would like to acknowledge the great effort of the FGCN 2010 International Advisory Board and members of the International Program Committee, as well as all the organizations and individuals who supported the idea of publishing this volume of proceedings, including SERSC and Springer. This volume contains the proceedings of CloudCom 2009, the First Inter- tional Conference on Cloud Computing. The conference was held in Beijing, China, during December 1–4, 2009, and was the ?rst in a series initiated by the Cloud Computing Association (www.cloudcom.org). The Cloud Computing Association was founded in 2009 by Chunming Rong, Martin Gilje Jaatun, and Frode Eika Sandnes. This ?rst conference was organized by the Beijing Ji- tong University, Chinese Institute of Electronics, and Wuhan University, and co-organized by Huazhong University of Science and Technology, South China Normal University, and Sun Yat-sen University. Ever since the inception of the Internet, a “Cloud” has been used as a metaphor for a network-accessible infrastructure (e.g., data storage, computing hardware, or entire networks) which is hidden from users. To some, the concept of cloud computing may seem like a throwback to the days of big mainframe computers, but we believe that cloud computing makes data truly mobile, - lowing a user to access services anywhere, anytime, with any Internet browser. In cloud computing, IT-related capabilities are provided as services, accessible without requiring control of, or even knowledge of, the underlying technology. Cloud computing provides dynamic scalability of services and computing power, and although many mature technologies are used as components in cloud c- puting, there are still many unresolved and open problems.
