The Cid ballads, and other poems and tr. by J.Y. Gibson, ed. by M.D. Gibson

Based on a true story of the Castilian hero El Cid, which takes place during the Requonquista (reconquest of Spain from the Moors) and tells of El Cid's quest to regain his honor after being exiled through battling the Moorish armies. After granted back his honor, he seeks justice for his daughters who have been mistreated. The end result is the beginning of the unification of Spain.
