Craig Conrad

Ashleigh Cruz, representing the holdings of the Cruz family as an attorney, hires Paul Rice to investigate an old factory for paranormal activities and cleanse the building, if necessary, so the family can sell the property. Rice's investigation quickly reveals that there is more involved than what he was told. This leads him along a twisted path where he encounters a strange family, a member of a gay women's organization who isn't sure she belongs there, and an old demonic curse dating back to the Spanish Inquisition that has followed the Cruzes across the ocean from Spain to America and is killing off the family one by one.

The Fallen

Ralph Walker, Paul Rice’s high school friend and locker partner for four years, suddenly becomes a suicide statistic years after graduation. Paul doesn’t believe it. He knew Ralph could be moody and sometimes quirky at times, but never to the point of taking his own life. Celia Walker, Ralph’s older sister doesn’t believe it either and remembers Paul from high school vaguely, she being a senior at the time and he a freshman. Celia decides to look Paul up and they share their doubts, so much so that she wants Paul to look into it. Paul does and he finds racial hatred very much alive and well within the family that Walker was going to marry into.

The Reckoning

Paul Rice flies out to California for a lucrative job offer from Ted Blair, an attorney presently cruising along the coast on his yacht. Paul is asked to find a man. Mordecai Reese. It sounded simple enough, so he takes the case on. but later learns that there was a whole lot that Blair didn’t tell him, like Blair was acting in behalf of his Catholic Church Cardinal brother, who really wants the book Reese took from a Neo-Nazi living in America, a book plundered by the Nazis during World War II, when they were obsessed with the Occult. This particular book was supposedly written by a cloistered monk with the help of the Devil and later printed unknowingly by Gutenberg. Over the centuries the book stayed in the hands of the Catholic Church until the Nazis took it from them, and now Reese had it. Paul soon discovers that everyone wants to own the book including the Catholic Church, who wanted it back, some Neo-Nazis skinheads, a very attractive woman named Abigail Azazel, who represented the Nephilim, and of course Blair and Reese. The only rub was that those who possessed the book and opened it suddenly died.

The Devil's Bible

Frankie Vane was a hand-me-down kid. After both his parents skipped out on him, he was shuffled off to one unwanting relative to the next until he ran out of relatives at age seventeen and had to spend one year in an orphanage. At age eighteen, he began to have some success until the draft and World War II interfered and cost him three years fighting the Germans. After the war, he resumed his career only to have it end when someone murders him. He comes back from the dead to find out who and why and even manages to find love, which he never had before, along the way.

The Comeback

Taylor Rawls, a top-notch defense attorney and Paul Rice’s ex-lover, walks into his office after three years of no contact. Since Rice is so good at finding people, besides dealing with the paranormal, she wants to hire him to find her ex-husband who has disappeared after their two-month marriage. She feels guilty about the way she treated him and wants to make sure he’s all right. Rice says no at first, suspecting she has another reason for finding him, but relents and decides to help her. Clearly Rice and Rawls still have feelings for each other and have loved each other since high school, which is a bone of contention between them as to who was to blame for the breakup. They deal with their feelings as they try to find her ex, an investigative reporter who has stumbled on a big story about a navy experiment that the navy did in 1943 and hushed up, and which someone in the government still wants to keep buried, even killing to do it.

Lazarus Rising

Paul Rice is asked once again to find a missing teenager. This time, it’s a pretty blonde female, and his search takes him to a resort town in upper Minnesota near the Canadian border where women have been disappearing and their male companions winding up drowned in the nearby Chenequa River. He finds Meriden to be a strange town with even stranger inhabitants who have a connection to a forty-year-old mine disaster, a famous horror writer who lives there, an unusual witness, and a helpful priest who has a hidden reason of his own for lending a hand.

After a brief retirement of about a year, Dutch Verlander is asked to return to work to train people on the old letter-sorting machines that have made a comeback of their own. He reluctantly agrees, only because he is asked by one of the few managers he respects, who has put his neck on the line promoting this project. His return is without fanfare as he expected. He didn't expect the appearance of a Gray Lady and two attractive sisters who not only help him uncover a maze of greed and corruption in the business of dying but also find the identity of a murderer and witness the pain of families who have to say goodbye again to their loved ones.

Leighann Baker, Paige Harper's roommate, asks Paul Rice to find her cousin. David Baker, who has suddenly disappeared, leaving his two children behind. Paul naturally helps her, but even before he sets out for Falls Corners, Wisconsin, where the disappearance took place, he discovers that the missing man's wife has also disappeared and the police think Baker had something to do with her disappearance and is hiding from them. Once reaching Falls Corners, Paul finds that the community is enchanted in more ways then one and the area is a hot bed for biped wolf encounters whose ability to change form and look human has enabled them to infiltrate government agencies, including the CIA.
