What Is Typography

With the rise of digital technology as a design tool and its acceptance as simply part of the tool chest for today's design studios, there has been a re-evaluation and return to exploring pre-digital typography. The event showcased contemporary artist books and fine press and fine art editions produced by some of the world's most esteemed printers, designers, book artists, and artisans. The foreword is written by Peter Rutledge Koch, and David Jury provides an introduction to the subject. There are also written commentaries from Crispen Elsted, Canada; Markus Fahrner, Germany; Martha Hellion, Mexico; Jadwiga Jarvis, Australia; and Gerald Lange, USA. This book contains 448 pages with 735 color images, presenting the work of artists, designers, printers, and publishers from all parts of the world.
