Re-imagining the City: Art, globalization and urban spaces investigates creative practices in urban space and the diverse ways that contemporary processes of globalization are transforming cultural experience and production. It maps how cultural productions in art, architecture, and communications media are contributing to the re-imagining of place and identity. Through a series of narratives and accounts, underpinned by theoretical and philosophical commentary, the writers examine how art and other forms of creative media can activate a re-imagining of urban place in this rapidly urbanizing world of today. This book recasts the ways cities may be understood; it articulates the innovative ways knowledge can be formed, framed, and transferred through cultural production and how that knowledge is mediated through the dynamic of aesthetic meaning and value in the public sphere.
