Having visited many of the civil war sites, it is so easy to picture the events that take place in Ginny Dye's series. I have learned so much of how the people who fought and died and suffered during this tragic event in our history! What a waste of American lives....The love interests in the story were told in a wonderful way. Finished Dark Chaos and just bought the 5th in the series!! Review: I absolutely love this series by Ginny Dye! I read a lot of books about the Civil War, and this series makes you really think about so many things, both large and small, that took place during those years. I have learned so much about things I never stopped to really think about and have a much better appreciation for what they endured for so long. It has really changed my thinking on many issues, and for the better! Review: As usual I enjoyed every word. It is interesting, entertaining and suspenseful. I dread the end of the series because I enjoyed it so much. You picked a very important time in history. It helps us learn more about the battles, conditions and thoughts of people at that time. Review: I never thought I would find a series to enthrall me like The Bregdan Chronicles has. I was wrong! I am struggling to find appropriate words to describe the awe I am in, and I find myself failing miserably. I absolutely could not put these books down. I would finish one, and immediately hop online to go get the next one....sometimes in the wee hours of the morning, when my tail should have been asleep. The writing style of this author brings you right into the story as if you are a part of it. She has amazing talent to capture the imagination, and bring you right into a virtual reality. I have fallen in love with every one of these characters - especially the strong women! - and have become completely entranced with each life represented. The historical account of this time period was so right on, so very vivid, you almost feel like you've walked right into it. These books became so alive, I actually had dreams at night of battle. (I'm not even kidding.) But it goes further. There were conversations in these books that had me reading over them several times. Life lessons. Sage advice. The kind of wisdom that comes from every day life. Moments that were so profound, they pierced my heart with an accuracy that I can't even begin to explain. Many times, the lives and hearts of each character were changed and rocked with revelation that came about in a moment, yet, so deeply touching the deepest recesses of the heart, that you can't go beyond it, without it having changed you as well, as you read it. Thank you Ginny Dye...not only for an amazing journey....but for those light bulb moments,throughout each book, that reached beyond the pages, and made their home inside the soul. What can I say overall? Well, let me put it like this: these books are like... "Gone with the Wind" meets up with "Eat,Pray,Love"; then whispers some "Secret life of Bees", forges some "Steel Magnolia's", and at times, wraps itself with the "Color Purple." Sigh. Did I mention how much I loved these books?

Learning more about the reality of civilization in American in the nineteenth century and reading about the courage and hope that the individual characters in the book had to have to move forward is encouragement for us today to never stop working for change and equality. Nothing is new under the sun as even today in the 21st century there is still so much that calls for change. There is a need to value life and to acknowledge that all men and women are created equal in God and in His image. This book is an encouragement to continue the fight for equality, respect for each other and a need to acknowledge that irregardless of gender or color every individual was created in the image of God and are called to reflect that as we live in our respective communities. Keep up the great work Ginny, your work and your writing is appreciated very much. I look forward to "Shifted by the Winds". Review: This has to be the best book in the Bregdan series. I learned so much about what happened in this country in 1866. I appreciate the time and effort the author spent in studying the overall political situation in the southern states and President Johnson's refusal to intervene. The riots initiated by the police against the blacks in Memphis and New Orleans were horrifying. Yet I never felt like I was reading a history book due to the personal involvement of all the dear people that I have come to love throughout this series of books. Can't wait for the next one, Ginny Dye.
