This spirited work commemorates the opening of the EYE Film Institute in Amsterdam in spring 2012. Found Footage, the first exhibition in the new building, takes as its theme the museum's vast and valuable collection and shows how filmmakers and artists repurpose recent and historical footage to create new works: older narrative structures are unraveled to create new stories, images are recontextualized to produce new meaning, and different edits of the film footage are used to highlight new political or emotional significances. A beautifully illustrated and constructed volume, Found Footage reveals the power of film to be reused and recycled to create endless new pieces of art.

The publication of Twisted: Urban and visionary landscapes in contemporary paintingcoincides with the exhibition of the same name, and features the work of fifteen young, international painters. These artists are defined by the figurative visual language they use, a language that does not refer to what we might normally think of as physical reality, but instead looks to the reality manifest in video and computer games, television, film, advertising, and other media. Exploring this man-made "hyperreality," the works included here are characterized by "artificial" use of color, the "sampling" of disparate elements, and quasi-abstract patterns--presenting the viewer with a world that tends to exalt its very impermanence. Chantal Akerman (Belgium, 1950-2015) was one of the first film directors to switch to the visual arts, in the mid-1990s. The transition would mark the start of a second ? parallel ? career.00By the early 1970s Chantal Akerman had grown into one of the most important feminist avant-garde filmmakers of her generation with films like Je tu il elle (1974) and Jeanne Dielman, 23, Quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles (1975). Akerman discovered the possibilities of exhibition spaces in 1995, when she screened her film D'Est, originally a documentary, as a large spatial installation on 24 monitors.00This publication focuses on Chantal Akerman's spatial works of art. Various authors discuss her highly personal oeuvre, which is characterized by a detached approach to seemingly ?ordinary? lives and the use of time, as well as to migration, trauma and the roles of women.
