Treinta y dos conferencias pronunciadas por Jacques-Alain Miller.Las conferencias, que se extienden desde 1982 hasta 2001, están ahora ordenadas en un volumen, en transcripciones de una exposición oral realizadas por colegas españoles que han puesto por escrito la palabra de Jacques-Alain Miller, quien se dirigía al público español siempre en castellano. Las ponencias dan cuenta de la fundamental labor realizada por Jacques-Alain Miller en el impulso del Campo Freudiano en España: la creación de los Seminarios del Campo Freudiano a principios de los años 80, las Secciones Clínicas a finales de esa década, la creación de la Escuela Europea de Psicoanálisis en los 90, la creación de la Escuela Lacaniana de Psicoanálisis en 2000.

As cinco primeiras, conhecidas internacionalmente como "Conferências Caraquenhas", foram realizadas em outubro de 1979, e as quatro últimas, unidas pelo título "Duas Dimensões Clínicas: Sintoma e Fantasia", foram realizadas em Buenos Aires em 1983. Dr. Lacan's writings, and especially the seminars for which he has become famous, have provoked intense controversies in French analytic circles, requiring as they do a radical reappraisal of the legacy bequeathed by Freud. "The Four Fundamental Concepts of Psycho-Analysis" is based on a year's seminar, which is of particular importance because he was addressing a larger, less specialized audience than ever before, among whom he could not assume familiarity with his work. For his listeners then, and for his readers now, he wanted "to introduce a certain coherence into the major concepts on which psycho-analysis is based," namely, the unconscious, repetition, the transference, and the drive. This particular seminar, in this particular edition, has often been used as the basic text for Anglo-American scholars and students alike seduced by the possibilities inherent in Lacanian psycho-analysis. In particular, notions of the gaze and ruminations on the role of subjectivity in two-dimensional representations have been adopted wholesale by spheres of film studies, art history, and visual studies. By default, Alan Sheridan, through this translation, has been key in the reception of Lacan in the Anglo-American academy. Alas, particularly for visual studies, a key phrase in this edition differs significantly from the French edition. An internet search proves that both versions of this phrase have been quoted equally in North American scholarly writings. While arguments could be made as to the apt-ness of continuing to use Sheridan's translation as it exists - and we at Parasitic Ventures Press considered the possibility of presenting one such - we offer, instead, this edition, an Erratum of The Four Fundamental Concepts of Psycho-Analysis, to allow our readers to decide for themselves.

La primera secuencia comienza el 12 de diciembre de 2012, cuando la psicoanalista iraní, Mitra Kadivar, a punto de ser ingresada en un hospital psiquiátrico debido a denuncias falsas, envía un SOS a Miller. Resultaba ser una variante iraní de Alguien voló sobre el nido del cuco. En este libro Miller muestra que el psicoanálisis está vinculado a la libertad de palabra y, a través de ella, a los derechos humanos.

The contemporary moment is disoriented by fake news, chatbots, conspiracy theories and a digital flood of leaks, lies and revelations. On hold with automated phone answering services, one pleads to just talk to a real person. But we are also complicit, enjoying online avatars, virtual reality, augmented reality and cryptocurrency fueled binges.Over a century ago, psychoanalysis learned from psychotic subjects that chasing after reality is folly. Reality is just another delusion in the service of the fantasy. To find an orientation amidst the proliferating loss of belief in reality experienced today, psychoanalysis must shift the question to find an exit from the reality trap. In its 7th issue, The Lacanian Review interrogates what is real in psychoanalysis. TLR7 introduces a landmark translation by Philip Dravers of the late Lacan's momentus and polyphonic address, "The Third," followed by texts exploring the Borromean clinic.
