À PROPOS DES AUTEURS Jérôme Ferrari est un écrivain et traducteur français. Né de parents corses, il est agrégé de philosophie et titulaire d'un DEA d'ethnologie. Il a vécu en Corse et enseigné la philosophie au lycée de Porto-Vecchio. Durant cette période, il a organisé notamment des "cafés philosophies" à Bastia, puis enseigné au lycée international Alexandre-Dumas d'Alger, au lycée Fesch d'Ajaccio jusqu'en 2012, et au lycée français Louis Massignon d'Abou Dabi jusqu'en 2015. Depuis la rentrée 2015, il enseigne la philosophie en hypokhâgne, au lycée Giocante de Casabianca de Bastia. Il débute une carrière d'écrivain en 2001 avec un recueil de nouvelles, Variété de la mort et un roman, Aleph Zero (2003). Auteur à la plume corrosive, Jérôme Ferrari s'inspire de la Corse pour écrire Balco Atlantico, paru chez Actes Sud en 2008. Avec son roman, Un dieu un animal, l'écrivain évoque la guerre et le monde de l'après 11 septembre. Il reçoit pour ce roman le prix Landerneau en juin 2009. Après le Prix France Télévisions et le Grand Prix Poncetton SGDL en 2010 pour Où j'ai laissé mon âme, son roman Le sermon sur la chute de Rome (2012) est l'un des événements de la rentrée littéraire finalement couronné par le Prix Goncourt. Il reçoit le Prix littéraire "Le Monde" 2018. Pascaline David est née à Bruxelles en 1976. En 2014, elle fonde les éditions Diagonale avec Ann-Gaëlle Dumont.

The mysterious disappearance of Hayet, the manageress of the village bar, presents a conundrum for its owner, who cannot face a return to the days of late nights, lewd customers and greasy dishwater.
