This book presents the joint post-proceedings of five international workshops organized by the Japanese Society for Artificial Intelligence, during the 19th Annual Conference JSAI 2005. The volume includes 5 award winning papers of the main conference, along with 40 revised full workshop papers, covering such topics as logic and engineering of natural language semantics, learning with logics, agent network dynamics and intelligence, conversational informatics and risk management systems with intelligent data analysis.

Arti?cial intelligence has recently been re-energized to provide the clues needed to resolve complicated problems. AI is also expected to play a central role in enhancing a wide variety of daily activities. JSAI (The Japanese Society for Arti?cial Intelligence) is responsible for boosting the activities of AI researchers in Japan, and their series of annual conferences o?ers attractive forums for the exposition of the latest achievements and inter-group communication. In the past, the best papers of the conferences were published in the LNAI series. This book consists of award papers from the 22nd annual conference of the JSAI (JSAI 2008) and selected papers from the three co-located workshops. Eight papers were selected among more than 400 presentations at the conference and 18 papers were selected from the 34 presentations at the co-located wo- shops; Logic and Engineering of Natural Language Semantics 5 (LENLS 2008), the 2nd International Workshop on Juris-informatics (JURISIN 2008), and the First International Workshop on Laughter in Interaction and Body Movement (LIBM 2008). The award papers from JSAI 2008 were selected through a r- orous selection process. In the process, papers recommended by session chairs, session commentators, and PC members were carefully reviewed, before the ?nal decision was made.

The ultimate goal of intelligent agents is to accelerate the evolution of the Web from a passive, static medium to a tuned, highly valued environment. This volume contains selected papers from PRIMA 2001, the fourth Pacific Rim International Workshop on Multi-Agents, held in Taipei, Taiwan, July 28-29, 2001. In this volume, the papers cover specification, modeling, and applications of intelligent agents. PRIMA is a series of workshops on autonomous agents and multi-agent systems, integrating the activities in Asia and the Pacific Rim countries. PRIMA 2001 built on the great success of its predecessors, PRIMA98 i n Singapore, PRIMA99 i n Kyoto, Japan, and PRIMA 2000 in Melbourne, Australia. The aim of PRIMA 2001 was to bring together researchers from Asia and the Pacific Rim and developers from academia and industry to report on the latest technical advances or domain applications and to discuss and explore scientific and practical problems as raised by the participants.
