De novembre 1975 à octobre 1976, Serge Bouchard a voyagé avec des camionneurs dans le Nord-Ouest québécois. Son but : étudier et observer leur travail pour en faire le sujet de sa thèse de doctorat. Serge Bouchard et Mark Fortier ont transformé la matière de cette recherche ethnographique unique en un portrait vivant et pénétrant du monde des routiers. Il y est question de mouvement, de routes et de béton, mais aussi des célèbres « truck stops » où domine le personnage de la « waitress », de marginalité, d’infini, de solitude, d’accidents et, surtout, du plaisir d’être camionneur. Le regard de Serge Bouchard transforme la machine et son chauffeur en véritables personnages. Chacun a son histoire, ses cicatrices, son usure, sa musique. In this study Mark Fortier addresses the concept of equity from early in the sixteenth century until 1660, drawing on the work of lawyers, jurists, politicians, kings and parliamentarians, theologians and divines, poets, dramatists, colonists and imperialists, radicals, royalists, and those who argue on gender issues. He examines how writers in all these groups make use of the word equity and its attendant notions. Equity, he argues, is a powerful concept in the period; he analyses how notions of equity play a prominent part in discourses that have or seek to have influence on major social conflicts and issues in early modern England.
