Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, Beispiele für regionale Entwicklungswege detailliert zu beschreiben und zu vergleichen, um dabei Parallelen aufzuzeigen, welche auch für andere Regionen von Interesse sein könnten. Nach kurzen Begriffsklärungen folgt eine ausführliche Analyse der Entstehung und Entwicklung des Silicon Valley und der Route-128-Umgebung. Anschließend wird im Vergleich zu einer deutschen High-Tech- Region, dem Münchener Raum, eine Untersuchung auf Entsprechungen vorgenommen, um schlussendlich Empfehlungen für Regionalentwickler abzuleiten, die „eigene“ High- Tech-Zentren anstreben.
