Attribution theory deals with how people explain social behavior - their causal attributions or common-sense explanations. Causal Attribution provides a major assessment of attribution theory in social psychology during the last forty years. A brief introduction to the classic attribution theories is followed by a review of some of the fundamental questions. Wir haben wiederum darauf geachtet, dass alle angesprochenen Themen auch in ausreichendem Detail behandelt werden, und dass Forschungsergebnisse stets im Zusam menhang mit den Theorien dargestellt werden, die diese Forschung sti mulierten. Die größere Verarbeitungstiefe sowie die umfassendere Be handlung der europäischen Literatur ist, neben der geographischen Her kunft unserer Autoren, sicherlich das, was den europäischen Charakter dieses Lehrbuchs prägt. Obwohl die europäischen und die nordamerikani schen Sozialpsychologen in den Jahren seit der ersten Auflage dieses Bu ches noch weiter zusammengewachsen sind, gibt unser Lehrbuch eine umfangreichere Darstellung als gängige amerikanische Lehrbücher von solch "europäischen" Themen wie dem Einfluss von Minderheiten oder den Beziehungen zwischen Gruppen. Dass dieses Buch im echten Sinne ein europäisches Lehrbuch ist, lässt sich weiterhin an der Tatsache erken nen, dass es inzwischen nicht nur in sieben europäische Sprachen über setzt wurde (deutsch, englisch, griechisch, italienisch, polnisch, spanisch, ungarisch), sondern dass in einigen dieser Länder auch jede der Neuaus gaben publiziert wurde. Allerdings beschränkt sich der Leserkreis dieses Lehrbuchs nicht auf Europa. So wird die englischsprachige Ausgabe von einer wachsenden Anzahl von amerikanischen und australischen Universi täten benutzt. Weiterhin erschien vor einigen Jahren auch eine japanische Ausgabe.
