Experienta ei a fost descrisa in volumul de fata, care prezinta cititorilor detaliile socante ale infamei Solutii finale. Aparuta initial in limba franceza, in 1946, Cuptoarele mortii. Marturia unei supravietuitoare de la Auschwitz este considerata o carte clasica a istoriei Holocaustului.

  De profesie asistenta medicala, doamna Lengyel lucra intr-un spital alaturi de sotul ei, reputatul doctor Miklos Lengyel. In 1944, impreuna cu parintii, sotul si cei doi fii ai ei au fost urcati cu forta intr-un vagon de vite si deportati la Auschwitz-Birkenau. A fost singura membra a familiei care a supravietuit.
