Mistletoe in Montana

Nantucket's famous Christmas Stroll is always the first weekend of December and this year sisters Mandy and Emma, and Paul, the executive chef, want to do something extra special for Mimi's Place, the restaurant they co-own. It will be Emma and Paul's first Christmas together as a couple and Mandy's first holiday as a newly single and divorced mother of two. Although Mandy does have a promising new relationship, she wants to take things very slow. Their sister Jill and her new husband, Billy, are planning to spend the whole month of December on Nantucket too, juggling working remotely for the executive search firm they own together in Manhattan and relaxing and spending time with family and helping out at the restaurant too. And Gina, one of their best servers and bartender, is spending her first winter on Nantucket and it's a bit of an adjustment. Winters on Nantucket are so much quieter than the city life she was used to. She's even more confused when someone she had a major crush on back in the city moves to Nantucket. Suddenly her boring winter is starting to look a lot more interesting.

Christmas at the Restaurant

Jane Cho is a former legal investigator who returned to the seaside town of Waverly, MA to run a takeout food shop, Comfort & Joy, and to live a quiet, safer life. Jane is a cousin to David, who was in TRUST and their grandfather also has a strong supporting role, as the retired town sheriff. David's best friend, Jake, who was also a main character in TRUST, is the current sheriff. Jane is enjoying the simpler life, but she was a really good legal investigator (think Kalinda from the Good Wife), before moving to Waverly, after someone she was investigating tried to kill her. She thought everything was behind her as that person was convicted and is behind bars. But one peaceful morning, Jane stumbles over a dead body while taking out the trash. The dead woman ran a nearby bed and breakfast and had been threatened by Jane's thriving new business and had even filed suit the previous week to try and shut her down. Stranger still, someone sends Jane a cryptic message and it's not clear if he is trying to warn her or impress her with his efforts to make her problems disappear.

Motive

Bad things always seem to happen around Christmas, which is also Angela Stark's birthday. On December 1, she is both fired and evicted. The next day, her car dies. She lives in San Francisco, the most expensive city in the country and was working as a maid. Who will hire her now, a month before Christmas? Especially if they find out why she was fired. She has no family other than an overly vocal, elderly cat named Sam. As a last resort, she could probably stay with her friend Jane temporarily, but Jane is allergic to cats. Just as she's about to get her courage up to make the call and ask for help, a letter arrives by certified mail. With information about the will of a grandmother she never knew she had. And now this grandmother, Olivia Stark, has left her a cottage on Nantucket, a small island clear across the country. A quick google search tells her that selling it could be the answer to all of her financial problems. There's also a bank account with just about enough money to cover some needed repairs and a plane ticket to Nantucket. So, off she goes, intending to fix the house as fast as possible, sell and move home to San Francisco. But then she meets the Hodges family. And finds an old journal of her grandmother's while cleaning a closet. She also meets a charismatic, writer/film producer who splits his time between Nantucket and LA. Everyone warns her that Philippe Gaston isn't one to settle down, and he admits it himself, even as he finds himself drawn to Angela. But Angela is on a mission to fix up the cottage, sell and return to San Francisco. She's not looking to set down roots somewhere new.
