Come esistono nasi che, forti di un prodigioso fiuto, inventano i profumi, così esistono occhi in grado di rivelare la paternità di un dipinto. Se a un occhio esperto bastano pochi istanti per identificare l’autore di un’opera rimasta per secoli nell’ombra, è perché dopo lunghi anni di addestramento sa isolare dettagli che contano più di un’impronta digitale. L’intuito e le conoscenze acquisite, però, non sempre sono sufficienti a stanare un capolavoro: le scoperte più sensazionali avvengono spesso grazie a un evento del tutto fortuito.
