L'Afrique du Sud est sortie de l'apartheid. La démocratisation a permis de rompre avec la pratique d'une politique de ségrégation institutionnalisée parmi les plus " abouties " et répressives au monde. Qu'en est-il, alors, de l'espace urbain ? Les villes reflètent et concentrent les sociétés. Plus qu'ailleurs, nous nous trouvons dans un espace englobant une multitude d'acteurs aux stratégies différentes, voire opposées. Envisager l'exclusion urbaine à Johannesburg, métropole sud-africaine de plus de quatre millions d'habitants, permet de comprendre les fonctionnements et dysfonctionnements de la société issue de l'apartheid, d'esquisser des perspectives d'évolution et de mesurer les premiers pas vers la liberté, en attendant ceux vers la maturité. En ne quittant jamais des problématiques générales centrées sur les dynamiques, formes et significations de l'exclusion urbaine en Afrique du Sud et ailleurs, l'auteur procède à de multiples études de cas (camps de squatters et townships à Soweto, quartiers " mixtes " du centre-ville, nouveaux espaces résidentiels subventionnés par le gouvernement, anciens townships pour Blancs, quartiers résidentiels haut de gamme...) qui montreront en quoi la société sud-africaine évolue et se complexifie. Le maintien et la fabrique de l'exclusion urbaine obéissent à de nouvelles lois. L'apartheid a toutefois conditionné une " culture de la ville " auprès d'une grande partie des résidents de la métropole. Trajectoires et stratégies résidentielles, références et aspirations en matière d'urbanité sont alors des éléments permettant de comprendre le façonnement d'une des dimensions de la " nouvelle Afrique du Sud ". Avec, en filigrane, deux questions : en quoi l'Afrique du Sud était-elle une configuration exceptionnelle en matière d'urbanité ? En quoi peut-elle donner des informations pour des pays ou des villes connaissant elles-mêmes des situations d'exclusion ? Un ouvrage novateur sur une ville méconnue, déconstruisant, dans la lignée d'auteurs comme Mike Davis, l'urbanité sud-africaine.

A historico-critical study of the whole of the Book of Judges, based on the latest developments in the history and archaeology of Israel. A six stages scenario is presented for the growth of Judges: from a Retterbuch in Assyrian Bethel, Jerusalem under Kings Manasseh and Josiah, Babylonian Mizpah and its fight with Persian Jerusalem until the insertion of the book in the Historical Books, each editorial stage is set into a precise historical context. Richter's Retterbuch is confirmed (excepted for the date), Noth's Deuteronomistic History is discarded while a new proposal for the canonization of the Former Prophets is offered.
