Raijmondus „Raymond“ Godefriedus Norbert van de Klundert (cunoscut și ca Ray Kluun sau, simplu, Kluun) este un scriitor olandez născut în 1964. A lucrat în publicitate, iar în 2000, și-a pierdut soția, în vârstă de treizeci și șase de ani, bolnavă de cancer. După acest eveniment s-a mutat în Australia, împreună cu fiica lui, și, trei ani mai târziu, a publicat O femeie la doctor (emKomt een vrouw bij de dokter, 2003), o versiune romanescă a propriei sale povești de viață: un soț care își înșală soția în timp ce aceasta moare de cancer. În 2006 a scris și o continuare a romanului, cu titlul emDe weduwnaar, în care povestește experiența în Australia, alături de fiica sa. În prezent trăiește la Amsterdam.

O femeie la doctor

Following his wife Carmen's funeral, chronicled so movingly in Love Life, Dan tries to pick up the pieces. He is now the sole parent of little Luna. But inevitably in his grief he goes right off the rails. His friends worry for him and for Luna, and Rose finds it difficult to reconnect with him. His hedonism becomes self-destructive and he deep down he knows it's better to have Luna stay with friends than for her to witness his decline. He sells his share of the business to his partner and goes ona drug-addled holiday to Ibiza, where he witnesses 9/11. His relationship with Rose is virtually over, though she can never quite bring herself to abandon him completely. Dan reaches rock bottom and realises he can't go on like this. His friends advise him to go on a long trip, taking Luna with him, and to try and take stock of his life. He decides to take Luna to Australia, via Bali and Thailand. There as they travel across the continent they begin to tentatively establish a relationship - a new relationship - and Dan finally comes to realise what it is he wants and needs in his life.

The Widower

Dan and Carmen are hip, healthy and wealthy. They have their own companies, plenty of money and friends and are the proud parents of one year-old Luna . . . They live the cool life in Amsterdam, until beautiful and optimistic Carmen is diagnosed with breast cancer. With that their world transforms into a roller-coaster ride of doctors and hospitals. As his way of coping, the hedonistic Dan faithfully accompanies Carmen to her chemo and radiotherapy treatments, but spends his nocturnal hours crazily immersed in the nightlife and women of Amsterdam and Miami. Love Life is the account of a relationship and a terminal illness, devoid of fake sentiment and told with humour and deep humanity. And it is very much an ode to love. Love Life

After the death of his wife, Dan stops working and throws himself into the party scenes of Amsterdam and Ibiza. After hitting rock bottom, he takes his three-year-old daughter to Australia. In a camper van on the other side of the world, he comes to deal with Carmen's tragic death.
