Sous la peau raconte la journée d’une jeune femme, depuis l’alarme de son réveil qui la tire d’un cauchemar récurrent, jusqu’au soir, au moment de s’endormir contre son petit ami. Une journée comme les autres, la terrible routine que la narratrice vit toute la semaine lorsqu’elle prend son métro pour se rendre au bureau, à la rédaction du journal qui l’emploie. Le même trajet, les mêmes collègues, les courriels à traiter et les notes de frais à classer, toutes ces tâches répétées mécaniquement pour ne pas sombrer dans l’angoisse en attendant que l’heure passe. Car à chaque instant, elle risque de croiser son agresseur. La jeune assistante administrative a été violée par son patron. Alors, elle n’a qu’une obsession : faire que la journée passe le plus vite possible, en ayant le minimum d’interactions avec ses collègues, jusqu’à 18h lorsqu’elle pourra enfin quitter son bureau. Nous nous immisçons alors dans son monde intérieur, dans son quotidien et parmi les souvenirs qui envahissent son corps jusqu’à se dissimuler sous sa peau. Alors elle se gratte sans pouvoir s’arrêter, aux toilettes, sous son bureau, partout elle se gratte en repensant à son patron et à ces atroces minutes qui la hantent depuis. Elle fixe l’heure sur l’écran de son ordinateur, encore quelques minutes et elle pourra essayer de penser à autre chose en retrouvant les bras de son compagnon. Mais parviendra-t-elle, cette fois, à lui raconter ce qui s’est passé ? Avant qu’une nouvelle journée commence... Tout en jeu de miroirs, Sous la peau est un roman d’une grande puissance qui nous entraîne dans un voyage intime.
