Die 14. GI/ITG-Fachtagung "Kommunikation in Verteilten Systemen" (KiVS 2005) befasst sich mit einer großen Vielfalt von innovativen und zukunftsorientierten Fragestellungen. Sie spannt dabei einen Bogen von verteilten Anwendungen über Netzwerk- und Middleware-Aspekte bis hin zu eScience und Grid. Die KiVS 2005 dient der Standortbestimmung aktueller Entwicklungen, der Präsentation laufender Forschungsarbeiten und der Diskussion zukunftsträchtiger Ansätze für die Kommunikation in verteilten Systemen.

Kommunikation in Verteilten Systemen (KiVS) 2005

This book focuses on core functionalities for wireless real-time multi-hop networking with TDMA (time-division multiple access) and their integration into a flexible, versatile, fully operational, self-contained communication system. The use of wireless real-time communication technologies for the flexible networking of sensors, actuators, and controllers is a crucial building block for future production and control systems. WirelessHART and ISA 100.11a, two technologies that have been developed predominantly for industrial use, are currently available. However, a closer analysis of these approaches reveals certain deficits. Current research on wireless real-time communication systems shows potential to remove these limitations, resulting in flexible, versatile, and robust solutions that can be implemented on today’s low-cost and resource-constrained hardware platforms. Unlike other books on wireless communication, this book presents protocols located on MAC layer and above, and build on the physical (PHY) layer of standard wireless communication technologies.

This volume contains the papers presented at the 14th SDL Forum, Bochum, Germany entitled Design for Motes and Mobiles. The SDL Forum has been held every two years for the last three decades and is one of the most important open events in the calendar for anyone from academia or industry involved in System DesignLanguagesandmodelling technologies. It is a primary conference event for discussion of the evolution and use of these languages. The most recent innovations, trends, experiences, and concerns in the ?eld are discussed and presented. The SDL Forum series addresses issues related to the modelling and analysis of reactive systems, distributed systems, and real-time and complex systems such as telecommunications, automotive, and aerospace applications. The intended audience of the series includes users of modelling techniques in industrial, research, and standardization contexts, as well as tool vendors and language researchers.
