Software engineering tools are computer programs that assist people in doing the work of software engineering. As understanding of the software engineering process has broadened and the need to solve problems has intensified, there has been increasing interest in using software engineering tools. Understanding what a tool does and comparing it to similar tools are difficult tasks given the diversity of functionality that exists. This report describes a tool classification technique that helps those investigating tools decide where a tool fits in the software engineering process and identify what a tool does or doesn't do. It also provides guidance to the tool evaluation process and lists specific criteria that should be considered when evaluating tools. (kr).

BEAT THE DRUM SLOWLY is the story of war, parenthetically and unfortunately, it is also unavoidably, the story of man's history. From our earliest days, conflict has been the single most common characteristic of humanity. Man has fought man and men have fought men on every continent, every ocean and every island from the moment one set eyes on the other. Be this xenophobia or be this a form of insanity is difficult to tell. In any case, the difference is lost amid the bombastic sounds of war. The weapons themselves are of little consequence, be they bare hands, clubs, knives, swords, spears, arrows, muskets, machine guns or atomic bombs. The end remains the same- lives are lost....like a sputtering candle, guttering in the wind, with darkness having the final word. We can easily enough research each of the thousands of battles between one group on this sad earth and another. Countries have fought countries and people, people, since before we began keeping count. We don't need this book, or any like it, to recount the history of these terrible conflicts. Beat The Drum Slowly instead delves into the underlying nature and motivations driving human-kind toward war and murder. We look beneath the facile explanations and histories offered by conquerors. (the losers seldom get a say) and attempt to peal away the layers of rationalization, lies and hypocrisy. The question is- what is it in humanity compelling us to engage in wholesale murder of our fellow man? Of course, it does superficially seem to be a "blood sport" engaged in mostly by men. Perhaps the culprit is testosterone? Women don't seem to be driven to dress up in silly uniforms, parade around to martial music and then run out screaming for blood... do they? From what we have observed, this seems a valid point. Those women who do go in for this kind of thing often have as much hair on their chins as the men they emulate... Of course, unless every country in the world placed women into every possible governmental position giving the female of the species complete and total power over everything, we will never know. Such is about as unlikely to happen as a vegan 'snarfing' up a bloody steak, the world will have to wait until some time in the future to see how that would work out. In the real world, men are stronger than women and men are highly competitive and combative. Men fight for power and never willingly give it up. Seeing things in this light, it is completely understandable as to why the world is governed by men. Men fight for survival, dominance, money, religion, race, patriotism, real estate and revenge. This book examines each of these motivating factors with the purpose being to explain to ourselves and our readers exactly what in holy hell is wrong with us. If the best way we have devised over thousands of years to settle differences is warfare then it does seem that mankind is doomed. Sooner or later, one side or another will design and field the ultimate weapon and, with our historical inability to foresee the future consequences of our actions, it is entirely likely that we will have finally managed to destroy all human life. Probably, the animals and other creatures of the earth will be rejoice over this. Is it at all possible that we can learn to settle our differences using our intellect and common sense or are we a doomed species? This is the question we examine and try to answer in this book. Regardless of the means one uses to bring death, war is by man's hand, whether driven by, religion, murder, etc. To study the countless wars throughout history trying to ascertain a cumulative total of deaths caused by war would take days, weeks or even months. Beat the Drum Slowly

The "War to End All Wars" as it was erroneously and overly optimistically named, ended in 1918 followed by a brief interlude, a period of time for the Germany to coalesce and strengthen before again crying chaos and unleashing the vicious dogs of war. Exactly as before, it was the bloody-minded Germans who drove the entire world again into the abyss. In this war there was no excuse, no Arch Duke assassination- no nothing. We argue that the responsibility lies solely on the shoulders of a single individual. We will show that Adolph was the only man in Germany capable of motivating the German people sufficiently to enter another world war. By so doing, we are able to lay blame solely on one individual for the sixty million (or more) who were robbed of their lives in this calamitous, hideous and entirely avoidable tragedy. Had Adolph Hitler never been born, or perished in WWI, or hung by the Bavarian government in 1923, it is entirely likely that WWII would never have occurred. Hitler survived some 32 assassination attempts. Had one succeeded early on, I would likely not be writing this book and millions would still be alive.

BUCKETS OF BLOOD

PANDEMIC is a book about the incredibly sad and tragic events of 2020 as concerns the phony Chinese virus, government reactions and the aftermath. We tell the story through fictional characters and unfortunately, an all too believable, plot. The story begins, as it did in reality, in China and moves, as did the disease, across the world. China used the Wuhan Flu as a bio-terror weapon purposely attacking the United States in a clear act of war along with the rest of the world.

PANDEMIC

This is a story written by a pilot who followed his father into commercial aviation. It is, on one hand, the biography of a professional pilot and, on other levels, provides us with insight into the mental disciplines necessary to follow such a career path. The story begins with a description of his life as a kid in rural New Jersey and follows him from his first flight to his last, some fifty years latter.As each passage of life ends, a new begins. The author provides us with an understanding of what it means to be a professional aviator and what he has learned along the way about his profession and about life. We see him grow as a person and as a pilot. We see the world through his eyes and gain an appreciation of his accumulated experiences both funny and those no so.Anyone who has spent years looking down on the world most certainly develops a different view of things than those who meander along the surface. This is certainly true of the author who provides the reader with a sense of his understanding along the way.

Flying Through Life

WWI, LOSSES, WASTE, STUPIDITY, POLITICS, WAR, MADNESS. On July 28, 1914, Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. This set the Triple Alliance (Austria-Hungary, Germany, and Italy) against Serbia's allies in the Triple Entente (Russia, France, and Britain).Eventually, the momentum became unstoppable, sparking one of the dumbest and bloodiest conflicts in history. Incidentally, WWI also set the stage for WWII 22 years later as well as making possible 70 years of brutal communism. This book is about this terrible conflict and also we tell the story of a very special British boy murdered in this deadly, avoidable and utterly senseless war- a war not of his making and indeed not of his or anyone's understanding. We discuss Sam Mason, a 19 year old, murdered a day before his 20th birthday at the battle of Somme. Sam was a mathematical Genius, a child prodigy, gifted far beyond his contemporaries. The British Government never should have allowed his enlistment. Sam was a national treasure. His potential for bettering the lives of all was enormous but tragically, we will never know.

AMERICAN CIVIL WAR, LEGACY, AFTERMATH, Most Americans, at least those born here before 1960, know the history of our Civil War but, what is generally not known- is why; why really the soldiers on both sides fought and died. Over the four years of bloody conflict some 690,000 young men from both sides lost their lives. That's an average of 14,375 every month and 479 a day.
