Serge Poliakoff was famous as a master of the École de Paris in the 1950s and 60s. His works, equally rooted in the colorfulness of Orphism and the constructive tension of Cubism, represent to this day the triumph of abstract art in the western world afterm World War II. Seine gleichermaáen in der Farbigkeit des Orphismus wie der konstruktiven Spannung des Kubismus verwurzelten Werke stehen bis heute stellvertretend fuer den Siegeszug der Abstraktion in der westlichen Welt nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg.
