Verschiedene Parlamentarische Untersuchungsausschüsse befassen sich mit dem Fall, in München läuft der Mammutprozess am Oberlandesgericht, der vor dem Frühsommer 2015 schwerlich beendet sein wird. Der ganze Komplex erweist sich freilich immer mehr als politisch hochbrisante Geheim- und Verschlusssache. Statt schonungslos aufzuklären, wie es die Bundeskanzlerin noch versprochen hatte, lenken Behörden ab, die Öffentlichkeit wird getäuscht – und geradezu für dumm verkauft. Der Polizistenmord von Heilbronn scheint der Schlüssel für den ganzen Fall: Zehn renommierte Autoren dokumentieren am Beispiel des NSU-Komplexes die Verhinderung wirklicher Aufklärung, beschreiben anhand noch unveröffentlichter Spuren und Hinweise neue Ermittlungsansätze und analysieren, wie und warum staatliche Behörden, Geheimdienste, Teile der Politik und auch der Medien eine innenpolitische Katastrophe ausblenden (wollen). Alle zehn Autoren befassen sich seit gut drei Jahren mit der NSU-Mordserie, sie beobachten die verschiedenen Untersuchungsausschüsse sowie den laufenden Münchner Prozess, sie haben Hunderte von Ermittlungsakten ausgewertet, pflegen Kontakte zu Insidern, haben Zugang zu "sehr gut unterrichteten Kreisen".

Wenn im großen Münchner NSU-Prozess das Urteil über Beate Zschäpe und die Mitangeklagten gesprochen ist, dann soll der Rechtsfrieden hergestellt sein. Doch was bleibt, ist die offene Wunde – für den Rechtsstaat, für die Demokratie, für die Aufklärung im doppelten Sinne des Wortes. Und insbesondere für die Opferfamilien. Der Terrorprozess und auch diverse politische Untersuchungsausschüsse haben keine Antworten auf die so wichtigen Fragen herausgebracht, warum neun Migranten und die Polizistin Michèle Kiesewetter sterben mussten, was das Motiv der toten Rechtsterroristen Uwe Mundlos und Uwe Böhnhardt war und welche Kenntnisse die Sicherheitsbehörden von der Existenz des NSU und womöglich von deren Morden, Anschlägen und Überfällen hatten. Dieses Buch setzt Zeichen dagegen, dass die Aufklärung der Staatsräson geopfert wird und die Bürger in Unwissenheit und damit in Unmündigkeit gehalten werden sollen – und dafür, dass die Gesellschaft mit den Opfern, die in ihr leben, das Recht bekommen muss, Wahrheiten zu erfahren. Für den Fotografen des Titelbildes, Martin Storz, und auch für die Herausgeber des Buches symbolisieren diese Spuren auf der Heilbronner Theresienwiese, dem Tatort des Polizistenmordes, sowohl die Flucht der Mörder als auch den Versuch, die Aufklärung der NSU-Verbrechen "auszubremsen".

Economists consider the legacy of Karl Brunner’s monetarism and its influence on current debates over monetary policy. Monetarism emerged in the 1950s and 1960s as a school of economic thought that questioned certain tenets of Keynesianism. Emphasizing the monetary nature of inflation and the responsibility of central banks for price stability, monetarism held sway in the inflation-plagued 1970s, but saw its influence begin to decline in the 1980s. Although Milton Friedman is the economist most closely associated with the development of monetarism, it was Karl Brunner (1916–1989) who introduced the term into the current vocabulary of economics and shaped its meaning. In this volume, leading economists—many of them Brunner’s friends and former colleagues—consider the influence of Brunner’s monetarism on current debates over monetary policy. Some contributors were participants in debates between Keynesians and monetarists; others analyze specific aspects of monetarism as theorized by Brunner and his close collaborator Allan Meltzer, or address its influence on US and European monetary policy. Others take the opportunity to examine Brunner-Meltzer monetarism through the lens of contemporary macroeconomics and monetary models.
