This volume comprises twelve papers written by Chinese scholars on various aspects of the history of ancient Chinese economic thought. The contributions are preceded by an introduction which gives an overview of the development of the subject of history of economic thought in China, and which also provides an historical context to the individuals who constitute the major "schools" of ancient Chinese economic thought. The authors of the papers are leading scholars who have dominated this research area since the founding of New China in 1949, while the broad range of topics covered by the contributions includes questions of methodology, detailed and sometimes controversial interpretations of texts and "schools", and the international influence and modern relevance of ancient Chinese thought. A recurrent theme is that ancient Chinese thought has at least as much to offer to the historian as ancient Western thought. As the first such volume of papers to be translated into English, this collection provides a unique opportunity for non-Chinese readers to sample the way in which Chinese historians of economics have attempted to understand their own intellectual heritage. This book will be relevant to scholars interested in the history of economic thought, economic history and Chinese studies.

Catalogo della mostra aperta a Napoli presso il Museo Archeologico Nazionale dal 14 dicembre 2018 al 11 marzo 2019 Il Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli ospita, per la prima volta in Europa, l'eccezionale mostra “Mortali Immortali, i tesori del Sichuan nell'antica Cina” (14 dicembre - 11 marzo 2019) con l'allestimento nel salone della Meridiana di 130 reperti in bronzo, oro, giada e terracotta, dall'età del bronzo (II millennio a.C.) fino all'epoca Han (II secolo d.C.) in un percorso attraverso il regno di Shu che esalta l'enigma delle maschere di bronzo più sofisticate dell'archeologia di tutti i tempi e racconta i riti di un popolo misterioso dedito al culto del Sole. Questa importante esposizione, che chiude idealmente l'anno del turismo Europa-Cina e rientra tra le attività promosse nell'ambito del Forum Culturale Italia-Cina, conferma il sempre più solido legame tra il Museo Archeologico di Napoli e il paese del Dragone per la promozione del patrimonio culturale italiano ma anche di quello cinese in Italia. For the first time in Europe, the National Archaeological Museum of Naples (MANN) hosts the xtraordinary exhibition, “Mortali Immortali, i tesori del Sichuan nell'antica Cina” (December 14th, 2018- March 11th, 2019), displayed in the Salone della Meridiana. The exhibition includes 130 bronze, gold, jade, and terracotta artifacts from the Bronze Age (2nd millennium BC) up to the Han dynasty (2nd century AD), in a journey through the Kingdom of Shu, which exalts the enigma of the most sophisticated bronze masks known in the history of archaeology and tells of the rites of a mysterious people who were dedicated to worshipping the Sun. This important exhibition, which ideally closes the year of European-Chinese tourism, and is part of the activities promoted within the Italy-China Cultural Forum, confirms the increasingly solid ties between the Archaeological Museum of Naples and the country of the Dragon, not only promoting Italian cultural heritage, but also Chinese culture in Italy.
