La mort, l'amour et les vagues

Au XVIIIe siècle, le capitaine japonais Daikokuya Kôdayû et ses hommes subissent une violente tempête au cours de laquelle leur navire fait naufrage sur une île, près du détroit de Béring. Daikokuya et les quelques survivants entament alors une incroyable odyssée à travers la Russie, pour tenter de rejoindre leur pays natal.
