Listen I am an art teacher so I may have a bias when reviewing a manga centered around art, but this was pretty good and brought back fun memories of how wildly stress-inducing having your art critiqued and picked apart by your professors is. Good times.

I absolutely love the art of this manga!

I have read a couple of manga that are focused on art, but this one tops them all. The 'art talk' are worked out thoroughly and the writer makes the 'art talks' easy to understand to people that don't understand the term that much.

Just a wonderful manga :D

One of the best manga i have read in a long while

A manga about the struggles and rewards of a life dedicated to art. The studious Yatora leaves a dry life of study and good manners behind for a new passion: painting. i loved this. i picked it up on a whim and ahhh everything was so good, and it was relatable. the characters are so interesting. yatora's struggle with what he wants to do is very relatable. it feels like reading an experience and it's good! highly recommend.

This book wrap-up basic study art in simple and easy to understand for beginner or someone not really knowing about art class. Beside giving information about art in general, this book also talking how to discovering your passion and progressing toward it little by little. I love how the characters developing step by step and the relation with others. Beside the theme about Art, the book not having connection with picasso and some profession artist it's the best point.

while, naturally, the general coming of age, identity and finding yourself through your passions themes are much more central to the narrative, it is a great joy for me that those are explored through yatora's (and his peers') relationship with art in particular. yamaguchi is not only knowledgeable about art theory and techniques but also finds the way they speak of it is a language on its own speaks to me, personally. their love and passion for art is evident in the first volume alone and i am excited to be taken on this journey.

This is such a cute coming of age story! This kinda felt like an art lesson in manga form and although it was a little info dumpy, I really enjoyed it!

I loved the art style and really like how this story is heading. I honestly didn't expect to like it this much! 100% going to continue with the series!

This manga is definitely putting a stop to the months long art block I’ve been going through. It’s especially helpful that it’s a really good resource for techniques hahaha while being entertaining. Among all of the sports mangas and even music manga, this type of art manga is longggggg overdue and it’s very exciting that we’ve finally got it

A manga full of hope and of art

As you can see, I classified this manga as educational. This is because, in my opinion, it teaches you about the basics of art (drawing and painting) through the story. I found that really interesting and I learnt some things thanks to it. My main problem with this manga is that it focuses too much on art and not at all on the characters. We know from the summary that Yatora is considered a delinquent as well as a popular guy in his high school but we never follow him through his day for example, just a little bit at the beginning. It is also the case for all the other characters, we only see them in art class and don’t know anything about their background. In other words, there is a lack of development for the characters. Apart from this, I found the drawings really pretty, totally my style and I enjoyed it a lot. It was really nice to look at it. Moreover, the plot is promising. Yatora is following is passion and is doing everything he can to succeed. I think it’s an important mindset and that’s why I would recommend it to teenagers; to make them believe in their dreams.
