the smut was not good 👎👎👎. and the plot wasn’t good either, the only thing interesting that happened was laura getting kidnapped.

Let me start by saying that I read this book after watching the movie, so I knew what I was getting into. I know there is a lot of upset surrounding the themes and relationships in this book and the abuse that occurs, but that is the genre. I feel those reviews are from people that read the book and are not engrossed in the dark romance genre. Would I condone many of the things in this book in real life? Absolutely not. Are the few representations of the more BDSM themes accurate to the community? Not at all, but to be fair they never claimed that is what this was, unlike 50 Shades. This is a work of FICTION directed at those that want to read books with a dark troubled alpha male and this book delivers just that. 

I am not sure if some things were lost in translation, but I had a lot of moments were I was pulled out of the story. One example being when she compared his junk to a birthday candle. Not the best way to sink us into a sexual fantasy when I had to put the book down to collect myself from laughing so hard before I could keep reading. Overall, this isn't a horrible example of a dark romance. There are some pretty good smut, but a lot of cliches that are overdone. There are better dark romances out there, like TM Frazier books, but this isn't the worst dark romance I have read.

Well, this is a thing that I read. I'm begging all bookstores/libraries/whatever to please not shelve this in a romance because it is certainly not a romance (cliff hanger, no HEA). Definitely angsty and with a lot of sex that I would not call romantic but is certainly titillating and definitely toeing the non-consensual line. I'm sure there will be some buzz and demand, but this is not going to be one I recommend except for those who are intrigued. 

My friend Allie described it as early aughts Literotica style of writing and I agree. I will not say why I know about that ha ha ha. If you do read, be prepared for brutal blow jobs, an overload of brand names, and OTT dialogue/emotions. When Laura described Maxim's penis as a birthday candle I about died.

If you saw the movie, this will answer a few questions (especially about the beginning) and ends in a completely different spot.

Laura has a full life. She has a job she is good at, the love of her friends, and on the surface- seems to have it all together. But something is missing. 

Massimo. The don. He is used to getting everything he asks for. He’s in charge, and does not take no as an answer in regards to him or his needs. After a near death experience, Laura comes to him in a vision. She is his obsession; and ultimately his weakness. 

“365 Days”, by Blanka Lipinska was originally written and published in Polish. After coming out on Netflix in 2020, it was also written in an English translation and will release on February 2nd. It follows the series of events that surround Laura and Massimo. Laura and Massimo are fire and ice. She is a prisoner in his world, and is slowly unraveling while bringing her walls down. It is definitely an insta-love feel, as that moves quickly in the story itself. Their emotional and sexual connection was perfect, I just struggled with some of the word choice and phrasing - as I had to go back and re-read to check for understanding, as well as skip over some parts because the word choice was repetitive.

Overall, this was a good read - and coming from watching the film first, I loved the overall storyline of the book and enjoyed how it was meant to be told.
