A Christmas Redemption

A Christmas Redemption An Estill County Mountain Man Romance

Pepper Pace2018
A series of unfortunate events leads to the unthinkable. Cilla Brewer is convicted of a crime that makes her the most hated woman in the county. The twenty-two year old girl's life had been a lonesome one due to a childhood illness that left her solitary and friendless. Books have been her only escape. Now the shy, naïve girl must learn to navigate life as an inmate.Aaron's desire to lead a solitary life was by choice. After a tragic event in his childhood, he found that he could never fit into the shoes of his popular older brothers. So despite looking like a 6'2" Hollywood hunk, Aaron is satisfied to work in the prison library of Dunkirky Women's Correction Facility along with his mother. His brother's don't want to see him turn into a 'mama's boy', but they don't understand how tough a man has to be in order to work in a women's prison. Besides, his job gives him all that he can want in life, all the books that he can read and a simple, quiet life. But can a common obsession with books surpass the chasm that exists between two individuals that are on opposite sides of the law? Warning: strong language, sexual situations and adult themes.

Cute and cuddly. I do think Ms. Pace took the easy way out by making the female MC innocent of the crime she was incarcerated for. It could have been a really interesting take on this trope as normally, male felons in these types of romance books are guilty of their crimes, but 'with a heart of gold'. None the less, I will say that the snippets we got from Debbie's POV were fascinating. I would love to see more of this as Pepper Pace has never really shied away from controversial issues/topics and this could be one of them. And I have to say, I would absolutely LOVE to read stories, non romantic stories, about Cilla's prison friends for the same reasons, they were, in some ways, the most compelling part of the book for me. Lastly, would Debbie's child's grandmother not have been given a prison sentence as I understand that lying under oath is a felony offence?
