A Fate of Wrath & Flame

K.A. Tucker2021
She would know the world of vengeful gods and monsters, and the lengths one would go for love. And nothing would ever be the same for her again. Gifted thief Romeria has flourished from her days as a street kid pilfering wallets to survive. Now she thrives, stealing jewels from the rich under the involuntary employ of New York City’s most notorious crime boss. But when an enigmatic woman secures her services at swordpoint, Romeria is plunged into a startling realm of opposing thrones, warring elven, and elemental magic she cannot begin to fathom. Her quest is straightforward: Steal a stone from Islor’s sacred garden without anyone discovering her true identity, which would earn her certain death. But the identity she has inexplicably assumed is that of the captured Ybarisan princess—an enemy to Islor after she poisoned their beloved king and queen on the day she was to marry the prince. Her betrothed, the newly crowned King Zander, detests her with every grain of his handsome being. Fortunately for Romeria, she is more valuable to him alive than dead. Zander gives her a choice: life in a cell, or an acquittal of all charges in exchange for her help in exposing the growing plot against him. Romeria sees no other option and embraces the tricky role of smitten queen-to-be until she can escape, a ruse that brings her far closer to the king than she anticipated and threatens more than her safety. As she digs deeper into this sacred garden and the ancient feud between Ybaris and Islor, she discovers monstrous truths that could spell ruin for all.

This book was a really interesting start to the series. I rarely enjoy reading books that use amnesia as a plot device, but this was an exception. I found myself entranced by the world building and magic systems. Like Romy, I desperately wanted to find out more about the world I had been transported to.

I can’t put my finger on what it is about this story, but it felt very unique and has stood out to me among my fantasy reads. I am absolutely wrapped up in this adventure, and I’m really excited to read the next one!

I’m going to say that this may honestly not be the series for me. I really wanted to enjoy this more than I did. It was just so slow, it took me so long to figure out what was happening, and because of all of that I was getting bored. I know that this left off on a cliffhanger but honestly it didn’t even affect me. The concept interested me but I was also a little nervous because time pieces don’t always interest me. This one I’m afraid was one. I stuck it out even when I wanted to put it down for a little bit and while it picked up a little bit after so much world building I’m afraid I lost too much interest already by that point. I know it’s a little soon to be saying that in the series but I’m in no rush to continue as of now.

If you like Blood and Ash, this a less steamy, slower-paced recommendation with a tighter plot line. If you liked Serpent & Dove, you would probably like this too!

It was one of the most enjoyable stories I've read so far and while I am sure I will come across even better stories this was an amazing story I loved the plot and the characters the magic system is not my favorite but overall i loved this book the excitement will probably wear off after a while but for now it's in the favorites list.

This book was interesting in concept but I felt lacked in execution. Romeria was kind of boring, Zander was kind of boring. I expect something else and what I got wasn't better then what I expected. I skimmed most of it and I felt like I didn't miss much. It could be my mood and I might try and re-read it later in the year

"It would be a lot easier if you didn't react the way you do to me." "I can't help it." "Neither can I anymore, it would seem." I was scrolling instagram a few months back and thought "Could it be?? KA.T. writing a FANTASY ROMANCE?!?" Oh and it was true. The woman who brought us Jonah has now decided we need to have a minor heart attack. KA Tucker delivers extraordinary world building for her first time in this genre. I wanted to live in Islor with the Mortals and Immortals alike. I wanted to be a caster and see what type of elemental power I would have. I wanted to wear a beautiful gown and fall for a king who wore a heavy crown. I was consumed and completed immersed in AFoW&F. There are two heroines we follow, Sofie being still a mystery, and Romeria, a thief in one alternate universe and a princess in her current, will have to choose her path wisely as she deals with the Fates, the politics of a kingdom not yet her own, and possibly her heart. And beware... Zander is all consuming. There are moments in this book that will forever live rent free in my brain as I listen to my playlist. #zelousforzander Read if you love: -Rhen from A curse so dark and lonely, but oozing sex appeal -Royalty, Castles, Court, and Corruption -a heroine who you actually want to BE! -a bit of mystery & intrigue - Elemental Magic - 🧛‍♀️ -friendships just as good as the OTP -your next obsession in a series -a little sweat & sword play anyone? - FBAA Rating: It's almost June and I'm naming it my favorite book of 2021-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Characters- here's my bag of stars... I dont need them anymore Trope- arranged marriage? enemies to lovers? fake relationship? that's right you get them all Steam- Just Zander leaning on a wall makes my knees weak... someone get this girl a wheelchair!🥵Actually... just pour me a bath, I'll wait there. Song: Poison & Wine by The Civil War Thank you Valentine PR and KA Tucker for my Advanced Copy for review. Now excuse me as I go reread.

You knoooow a book is about to be SO good when you gasp out loud on the first page of said book 🤣 This was me with A Fate of Wrath and Flame and it did not disappoint! I am hands down completely obsessed and ready for more.⁣ ⁣ The world Tucker creates is haunting and somewhat dark yet fairytale-like with medieval vibes to boot. It's 1000% my kind of story and fantasy world 🙌🏻 Be ready for fates, elemental magic, other realms, elven, and immortals... with lots of twists 👀 At times, I was getting Beauty and the Beast vibes. At others, I was getting essence of moonchild. Obsessed. Plus a backstory and brief POV shifts. Checking all my fantasy story boxes and MORE.⁣ ⁣ This was such an amazing debut into an epic fantasy and romance tale. The tantalizing slow burn is SO WORTH IT. Tucker’s writing is ever addicting and all-consuming. It fully encapsulated my mind and entire being. At every turn of the page, I was enthralled and greedily devouring her words as she continued to build up and up and up.⁣ ⁣ And just when you think you’ve gotten all the world-building bits in order and classified 💥 SURPRISE 💥 THERE’S MORE... literally til the end of the book 🙌🏻 The endless possibilities in this world have me hooked! Zander and Romy are 🔥 and I am still dyyyying for more. I already want to reread it. And I think I most definitely have a book hangover.⁣ ⁣ Thank you to the author and Valentine PR for my advanced copy! Can't wait for book 2!!

A Fate of Wrath and Flames, book one in the Fate and Flame series took me on a fantastical journey. It introduced me to a world of magic where immortals reigned and mortals were subservient.  What a ride. I would not want to be in Romeria's shoes. Plucked from a world where all appears normal only to be plunged into a place where humans are blood slaves, elves are superior and deadly beasts roam. To make matters worse  she is accused of murdering the King and Queen of Islor. In addition the revelation of her secret would mean death for her. Despite all this she had a task to perform. A task which is a mystery to her, but one she needs to accomplish. As the story unfolds Romeria learns the truth about this strange world, its people and most of all herself. With each revelation the danger to her increases. I had an interesting time navigating this world with its rich tapestry alongside the heroine. Romeria didn't have an easy life growing up in the City of New York. However, she looked beyond her circumstances and worked to make better life for herself. If asked to describe Romeria, strong, resilient, smart and sassy would be the perfect adjectives. The author weaved a slow burn enemies to lovers  romance amidst danger, secrets, mystery, magic and intrigue. Zander fought his attraction to Romeris to no avail. He can't fathom why he can't stay away from her knowing she is responsible for murdering his parents or so he thought. He would soon learn that all is not as it appears to be. The story flowed seamlessly and I no issues following it. Seeing the story through Romeria's eyes gives one the feeling of living the story. The pacing was steady for the most part.  It slowed at the points where the author provided pertinent details as it relates to this magical world.   The story ended on a cliff hanger, which has me eagerly awaiting the next book in the series. Overall, I had a wonderful time with A Fate of Wrath and Flame.  Readers who enjoy  fantasy stories with magical kingdoms, battles and  romance, will enjoy this new series  by K.A Tucker. This review was originally posted on Totally Addicted to Reading
