Riddle established a somewhat clichéd concept - that the next chapter for the humanity is to ditch physical bodies and to hook into an energy based system (he called it The Grid). It's not a new idea, but Riddle did something interesting.

The two main characters, James and Emma, are both well written and worth investing one's time to learn more about them. They all have very intriguing back stories to tell and as the story unfolds, their relationship becomes more complicated in a necessary way.

By far, the most interesting character IMHO, is Oscar. Unfortunately, we only get to know him about half way, and he merely makes any impact on the main story until much later on. I wanted to know his origin story, it's definitely a key element in this sci-fi setting.

3.75. Entertaining but not as riveting as other Riddle books I've read. I'll definitely continue the series.
