at first i thought the voice, the snark, the bluntness was hilarious. but the stream of consciousness writing was hard for me follow, i hated the characters (also didnt think they were well developed) and i was thrown by the constant use of slurs. i get it was written yrs ago but we really dont need to say the r word all the time. i dnf this bc i left it at the hospital and also bc it was insufferable

I nearly put this thing down because the first twenty/thirty pages were unbearably [and rightfully so] depressing. I'm glad I stuck it out though, because Dave Eggers makes me laugh out loud like a crazy person, or resist the welling up of tears, or glance around in shame because I agree, I've felt that way, too.
