So boring, only getting 3 stars because it did get you in your feels at times. She went as a ghost for Halloween 🥲 interesting to read at times having an unreliable narrator but still :/

It starts off very slow but picks up around the halfway mark. The best part of the book is probably the 3/5-4/5 of the book. The ending was super disappointing and unoriginal and just corny. Disappointed by all the hype around this book when it's just another suspense book.

Absolutely loved this book from a sci-fi/fantasy fan

As stated, I'm mainly a fantasy/sci fi reader, but absolutely loved this book. It had twists, turns, was fast paced and really made you understand the character.

The story kept throwing curveballs at me and huge twists that I didn't see coming (and I like to think I can see when a twist is coming).

The book is obviously about agoraphobia and it was fascinating the read this and understand the phobia better.
Would highly recommend!

This book was SO MUCH FUN.
I honestly don't want to say too much about it, for fear of any spoilers, but it was just an absolute BLAST.
It took a while for anything to happen (why do I keep thinking stories have a slow beginning? am I impatient?) but once it got going, I was absolutely hooked. I don't read a lot of thrillers/mysteries, but this one will definitely be a favorite. I saw a couple things coming but OMG, THAT ENDING. I LOVED not knowing what was going to happen; all of the questions this story has you asking both your self and the characters was just so well done. The last half of this book had me on the edge of my seat!

this is actually one of the greatest books i’ve ever read in my short life!!! the plot is so well thought out and the details were amazing. also the main character, anna fox, is so interesting to just analyze and discover more about. also the suspense... so good. the plot twist i was actually not even expecting at all and tbh it’s hard to expect anything that happens in the story. i really really recommend this book and it was a great read!

           Did not need to be 400 pages. Guessed the killer midway but then said “no, that’s stupid.” SPOILER: guessed the family was dead 100 pages in and Anna was “talking to them” as a way to cope. Ummm what else is there to say? It would’ve been better if written by a women/ also made the story a commentary on how society never really believes women / how young boys don’t necessarily see women as human due to societal stances and such.

I'm a sucker for mystery/thrillers that make it hard to guess the ending and The Woman in the Window meets those needs perfectly. While I tend to prefer third-person narration in novels so I can try and figure out the truth without the bias that accompanies first-person, this book would not have been the same if written outside of Anna's perspective. Finn does a great job of writing through the lens of Anna's addiction and fear and demonstrating how they heighten the stakes of the mystery she's trying to solve. Finn also incorporates themes and references to film noir throughout the book which is admittedly out of my range of expertise. However, even without prior noir knowledge, this novel is completely and overwhelmingly enjoyable with its short chapters and quick pace. 

Recommended For: those who like to read the book before watching the movie, those who like complex themes within writing

This book had an intriguing premise and a decent start, but for the most part it felt like a lot of filler, in the sense that I didn't feel like all the terrifying chaos that the premise hints at took place until half way through the book.

As for the narration, I found it a bit tedious to read pages detailing the main character, Anna’s daily routine of drinking several bottles of wine every day, mixing prescription medication with it, while also spying on her neighbours and watching black-and-white films. After a while, it quickly became quite repetitive and tiresome to read.

I gave this book a 2.5 star rating for its twists and turns, which I found quite surprising. However, this may be because I focused too little on the mystery or clues surrounding the woman she perceived to be Jane Russell or the other characters.

Ultimately, a perfectly okay psychological thriller, but one that fails to stand out from other psychological thrillers I've read.
