I fan di Martin lo apprezzeranno, si legge bene e porta alla luce vicende di molti personaggi già conosciuti anche se non ha la profondità ed i dettagli delle Cronache del ghiaccio e del fuoco è comunque un libro che merita di essere letto. 
Vorrei giusto dire due parole sulla traduzione, per prima cosa grazie per non aver tradotto Egg con Uovo (altrimenti si sarebbe perso il senso del soprannome) ma davvero perché avete tradotto "Dunk the lunk, thick as a castle wall" in "Dunk dal cervello fino come le mura di un castello" fino in senso di delicato? fino in senso di sottile? le mura di un castello non sono né una né l'altra cosa, così non ha senso e quella frase si ripete per tutto il libro circa ogni tre pagine quindi era fondamentale tradurla bene. Ho capito che volevate tenere la rima, ma piuttosto della rima era meglio tenere il senso della frase.

A great book to read if you're still going through the post Game of Thrones Season 8 hangover. The book is set a hundred years prior to Robert's rebellion and contains three tales of a hedge knight Dunk, and his squire Egg. As they travel from one place to another, they meet lords and kings, take part in tourneys, attend weddings and share brief moments of love and friendship. The stories are classic George RR Martin - unpredictable, well-fleshed out and wonderfully adequate. Read if you want to know a little more about the Targaryens and about Westeros in general.

           4.5 stars! It was lovely jumping back into Westeros after several years since reading GOT5. I fell in love with Dunk and Egg's adorable relationship and I've developed some satisfying headcanon based on them (and some other characters introduced in this collection). The Targaryen family tree came to life right before my eyes; many little tidbits I recall from ASOIAF were fleshed out and made significant. In a word: delightful. 

This being a compilation of 3 novellas, I can understand that there would be a bit of slight disconnect between the storylines of each. For the most part, transitions were seamless. However, there were moments where the plot/character motivations didn't make much sense. One particular moment confused me moving from the first story into the second: Dunk's painted shield (the one with artwork done by Tanselle) was magically still intact after it was shattered in the Trial of Seven at Ashford. Altogether though, this was a quick and enjoyable read :)


This quenched some of my GRRM thirst but of course I'm still left feeling bereft without a GOT6 release date still...

This was a fun read. I loved all 3 stories and it was good to be back in Westeros for the first time in a while learning about some of the characters from previous times mentioned in the main A Song of Ice and Fire series.

I loved the friendship between Dunk and Egg and all the mishaps and adventures they got themselves into. Egg’s devotion to Dunk was really quite sweet too, and I found they treated each other almost like brothers. The illustrations also added to the book nicely and really captured the story well!

I have a lot of respect for GRRM for building this whole world and history, like wow, I care more about this than I do real world history!

Side note: it’d be nice if this book had the relevant part of the Targaryen family tree printed somewhere as there are a lot of Targaryens and I had to keep referring back to The World of Ice and Fire to clarify who was who 😂

No me gusto tanto como los otros libros sobre canción de hielo y fuego, pero como novela corta esta muy bien. Aparte lo leí después de leer la parte 1 de Fire and Blood, y me extendió lo que pasaba ahí, aunque sea un poco. Lo recomiendo, pero no para empezar, sino para después de terminar con los de la saga principal.

This was a fun, distracting read while I patiently await the next Song of Ice and Fire installment. It was rather enjoyable for two big reasons. First, Dunk is just adorable and the kind of character you just want to cheer on. Second, my insides weren't getting twisted at every turn with some intrigue or another. I mean, I love that stuff, but sometimes it's nice to just read something light and fun. I would definitely recommend it!

Not surprised, it was awesome! I adore author’s writing style so much. These shorter stories are all so well written, they feel so medieval - not even a bit of modern vibes. 
He takes you right into the different era, the fantasy world we all love so much. I adored all the Targaryens involved, as they are my favorite house by far. Egg is such a cute little character, too!
Returning to Westeros is always so nice, but this somehow felt even more interesting because it’s set in different era than GOT. Different characters & the era when Targaryens ruled. Perfect for me.

100 years before the events in A Song of Ice and Fire, Egon Targarian was only a small kid. If you're curious about how he became the most well adjusted of his family, this one is worth checking out. Although an engaging number of stories that add a bit of backstory, they only shed a small amount of new light on overall setting and family dynamics of the era.
