To say Hilary and Alessandro have a complicated past would be a ginormous understatement. They had very strong feelings for one another once upon a time, but their time together back then didn't end well. They're both damaged and broken, but for very different reasons. Hilary never quite got over the fact that Alessandro disappeared from her life all those years ago. Alessandro feels guilt for leaving her – and about other things that happened when they were at the foster home together. He feels remorse over the death of his brother, Lorenzo, who was … well, not a very nice guy. He worked over both Hilary and Alessandro in the past. But, he's gone now and Alessandro is trying to ease his guilt.

I liked Alessandro in A Little Too Far. A lot. He was swoony, sexy and sincere. I can absolutely understand why Lexie was attracted to him. There was just something that bothered me about him. I know now what it was. It's that he just didn't fit with Lexie. She belonged with Trent. I fell head-over-heels in love with Alessandro in this book. There was so much more to him than met the eye. Sure, in ALTF, we readers learned about his troubled past and the violence and drug use that occurred, but we didn't get the whole story. There's much more to learn. He's steaming hot and sexual, he has a great sense of humor, he's on a quest for closure and absolution, he's conflicted. He is kind-hearted and a good person. We got a dose of all of this with Lexie in ALTF, but it was just so much stronger in this book. It was a little hard to believe that this Alessandro almost became a priest. Thankfully for us all, he didn't.

Hilary and Alessandro try to put the past behind them and be friends again. He decides to stick around New York a little longer than he originally intended. She's been in the city for quite awhile, but hasn't really seen much of what it has to offer. Together they begin to explore the sites – and ultimately their feelings for each other. The scenes with them just hanging out around the city are some of my favorites, because a) I love love love New York and Lisa's writing made me feel like I was there and b) their chemistry is so strong, their personalities so well-matched, that they just left me smiling.

As time goes on, Hilary wonders what having Alessandro back in her life really means. It's obvious that they both still have strong feelings for the other. Their chemistry leaps off the page. There's a slow burn of sexual tension. But more than all the physical stuff, they share genuine, intense feelings. They're both so much better when they're together. Will they be able to overcome their pasts and have a real future together? Will he leave again and break her fully this time? Will he be able to get past his guilt for what happened in their past and with his brother? You just need to read it for yourself to find out. 

Maybe I'm blind, but I didn't see the twist in this book coming. I literally gasped. Then, just so I wouldn't forget, I made a note in my Kindle app with "GASP!" written again. It all made perfect sense, but I definitely didn't figure it out on my own. It, to me, is what made the story. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure I would have loved Hilary and Alessandro just as much had the story not gone in the direction it did. But this added another level of emotion to their relationship and their history. Some of my favorite scenes in the book, the ones I won't talk about because I refuse to spoil anything, happen as a result of this revelation. 

Lisa Desrochers has rocked my world once again. A Little Too Far landed her on my auto-buy author list. A Little Too Much moved her to the top. I got everything I wanted in this book: second chances, smoking-hot sexy scenes and true love. It took me on a full roller coaster ride that I wouldn't trade for anything. Sweet, heartfelt and beautifully-written, this is one of my favorite books of the year. (Even higher on the list than A Little Too Far, which I swooned and gushed over a few months ago.)

So, I'm going to be honest, I really didn't like Samantha when we were first introduced to her in A Little Too Far. I found her to be very self-centered. (Now there's a chance I only felt this way because I thought she was sleeping with Trent and, damn it, he belonged with Lexi... but still.) She just didn't ever impress me as a good friend. Now, I can honestly say, I kinda love her. Turns out all I needed was to hear her backstory. Her life hadn't been easy. Her family didn't do much to support her. I really did feel bad for her. She wound up working at a shady strip club and as it turns out, things are going to get a lot worse before they get better.

Enter Harrison Yates, a mysterious customer at the club. They have an immediate, intense chemistry and find themselves getting to know each other more during "private room" sessions... and no, not THAT kind of private room sessions. They talk. They learn about each other. Ok, and there may be *some* touching... But, Harrison has baggage and secrets and the story takes a very surprising turn... and keeps twisting and turning for the duration.

I mean, wow. This book. I was more than a little shocked at the first twist. I didn't see it coming a mile away. The events that occur as a result of that particular twist did, literally, keep me on the edge of my seat for several scenes later in the book. Mix that with Lisa Desrochers' knack for sexual tension and steamy love scenes and I literally could not ask for more.

One of my favorite things about this book (you know, aside from EVERYTHING) was that it really provided character development for someone I wasn't really ever sold on in the beginning. It allowed me to see a different side of her and better understand the flaws I saw in her earlier in the series. Harrison was also a favorite thing. There's just something about a sexy guy with baggage. :) He made me melt. His chemistry with Sam was fantastic. I really liked the two of them together.

Lisa Desrochers has really outdone herself with A Little Too Hot! She found a way to take the sexy romance and interesting characters and mix it with a healthy dose of suspense that kept me on edge and guessing at what would happen next. There's a chance it may be my favorite in this series...

It’s always interesting to go back and reread a book you loved. Especially if years have passed since you first read it. Even more so if your reading tastes have changed in that time. I still enjoyed A Little Too Much nearly six years after reading it for the first time, but that overwhelming love I felt the first time was missing. I don’t read a lot of angsty books these days, but back in 2013 that was catnip for me. I do think I’ll keep on with the reread of the series though, just for shits and giggles, as time allows.

Yet it’s nearly impossible to fight. She’s in love with him, and she doesn’t know what to do about it. Off to Rome she heads, where she immediately meets a Reverend to help guide her in straightening out her life. This Reverend just happens to be sweet, charming, and drop-dead gorgeous. Oh man, is Lexie in trouble now.

The characters in this story completely won me over. Each and every one of them. Lexie was a bit lost, yet determined to better her life. She was silly, a bit clumsy, and often said and did off-handed things, but I so loved her imperfections. Then we had Trent. Seriously, could he be any more perfect?! He’s sexy, sweet AND plays the guitar and sings. Really? Yes, please!! And then there’s the soon-to-be Priest, Alessandro. Probably the best person Lexie has ever known. Near perfection on the inside and out. After spending so much time together in Rome, feelings are bound to grow between these two.

Lisa Desrochers does such an amazing job of broaching a sensitive and touchy taboo subject beautifully. Aside from the forbidden love interest of step-siblings, she also brought on a handsome Reverend on his way to becoming a priest in the very near future. And before you get discouraged by the idea of a love triangle, trust me when I say this one was necessary, it was powerful, and it just plain worked.

I don’t have a single negative thing to say about this story. I had no idea I was going to enjoy this book quite as much as I did. Lisa Desrochers is a new author to me… and one I will be sure not to miss out on in the future. I didn’t want this book to end. I still want more information, more insight into their characters, more about their past and their futures. I loved every ounce of this book, and I cannot wait to get started on book 2, A Little Too Much, which is scheduled to be released in November. Yay!

Now I’m off to plan a trip to Rome… ;) I wish!

Let me start by saying if you haven’t read A Little Too Far yet, stop reading this review and read it immediately. If you have even the slightest interest in this series, just give into the temptation and pick it up. It’s a must-read in my opinion. Plus, just a heads-up, you may find spoilers for book 1 in this review of book 2.

Alessandro… let’s begin with him. It was love at first sight in ALTF. Though I was routing for Lexie to end up with Trent, I still adored Alessandro and was so excited to see his story would be out next. When we first meet Alessandro he has the perfect, shiny exterior of a guy who could do no wrong. In this book we get to see deeper into his past and what made him the person he is today. He’s been through quite a lot in his life, and he’s definitely made a lot of mistakes along the way, but that only made me love him more. So he’s not perfect. He has flaws. But he used those negatives and turned his life around. A perfect example of making lemonade with those yummy lemons, wouldn’t ya say? :)

I wasn’t so sure about Hilary at first. Let’s just say she’s a little rough around the edges. But after delving into the childhood she had, including a group home with a less-than-ideal living situation, it was understandable why she built up such a tough exterior wall.

The romance in this book wasn’t as steamy as in A Little Too Far, but man, it was still HOT! This entire series will have your heart pounding (and your blood boiling) from time to time. In comparison to book 1, there were a few spots where the story slowed down a bit. But overall it was wonderful. Oh! And I have to mention the curve-ball that was thrown at us. I mean… WOW! I did NOT see that one coming! Another fantastic book added to this remarkable series.

I can’t get enough of this series!!! Another amazing book from Lisa. She continues to blow my mind with her steamy, entertaining, addicting stories. The thought of this series ending makes me physically ill… so let’s hope that’s not going to happen, shall we? ;)

Samantha was the kind of heroine I really enjoy. Though I wasn’t sure I would like her at first, I was happy to see she was a tough cookie after all and made the best of a bad situation. Her parents kicked her out after she basically failed out of college by not going to her classes. She’s homeless and jobless, but at least she has a good friend with an empty couch who helps her find a job dancing in a club. She doesn’t have to take her clothes off, and the money is pretty amazing, so she decides to give it a go.

In walks Harrison. He catches her attention immediately. With looks like those and a super sexy hot swagger, how could he not? But Samantha doesn’t know Harrison… and he’s definitely hiding some very important things from her.

This story starts off good and just keeps getting better!! The twists and turns left me shocked, totally invested in the story, dying to see what would happen next. I couldn’t put it down!

A Little Too Hot is basically a standalone, though a few friends from prior stories do make a cameo appearance. But you don’t need to have read the first two to read this book. (But don’t take that to mean that you shouldn’t read them because you definitely should. They’re both amazing!)

This series continues to be on my favorites list. Each book in this series is unique, yet all equally entertaining. I can’t recommend this book, and this entire series, enough!

Okay. Have you read that blurb? Have you? Because wow, what a blurb. It makes you want to read the book doesn’t it? Maybe juuust a little? Well, it certainly made me want to read the book A LOT. The heroine sleeps with her stepbrother, then goes off to Rome only meet a smokin’ hot soon-to-be priest? It’s intriguing and sounds hilarious and you know something terrible is bound to happen. How could the heroine possibly end up in this situation, torn between two off-limit guys? Well, you have to read it! A Little Too Far was so. good. I didn’t LOVE love it, but I had a hell of a time reading it. I still can’t get this book out of my mind, and I finished a couple days ago!

Alright, let’s start from the beginning. So the heroine is Lexie, and she has a step-brother named Trent, with whom she has a very close relationship. Not close as in intimate (yet… lol), but close as in they are best friends. Ever since their parents got married, they’ve been able to tell each other anything and everything. They have no secrets between them, and they always rely on each other. I loved the friendship aspect of their relationship, because I could feel their friendship and their closeness. They knew each other inside and out, and then one day… all their sexual tension builds until it explodes and they finally sleep with each other. It’s hot and it’s wild, but I never felt that ick-factor that came with them being step-siblings. They seemed right and perfect for each other. But afterwards, Lexie comes back to reality, and no matter how much she enjoyed being with Trent, she still felt guilty. She doesn’t want to break apart her family, which she figures will happen if their parents ever find out their children slept together. Lexie knows what she did was wrong, even when it felt right.

"I just had totally mind-blowing sex with my step brother. And I’m leaving for Rome in two days. Which is a good thing because I just had totally mind-blowing sex with my step brother."

I loved Lexie. She’s hilarious! She’s cute, quirky, and so relatable, and the way she narrated had me laughing in stitches. She’s a great heroine, albeit very indecisive, but that just made the story all the more fun. Because what do you know when after she sleeps with her brother and then leaves for Rome, she starts falling a little for a reverend on his way toward becoming a priest. Like, how messed up can a girl’s life get?

"Yep. The tingle in my groin is unmistakable. I’ve got the hots for the good reverend. I thought I was going to hell before, but this pretty much cements it."

Lexie has such a wild, crazy life in Rome. She realizes how much she loves Trent, but then there’s Alessandro, the to-be priest. I started falling more for Alessandro than for Trent, to be honest, mostly because Trent doesn’t get as many appearances. He’s all the way across the ocean, and while Trent’s always in Lexie’s thoughts, it’s Alessandro who’s there for Lexie in Rome. He shows her beautiful places in Rome, and they have an incredible time together. Lexie becomes so torn between the two-impossible-to-have men in her life. She just could not make a decision! Usually, I’d get pretty frustrated with a heroine like her, but in this case, I had to give her a little slack. If I were in her position, I’d have NO CLUE who to choose!

I never really felt that connected with either Trent or Alessandro. I didn’t know who Lexie should choose, because I honestly had no idea who’d be a better choice. I started liking Alessandro more, but I still wasn’t quite sure if he’d be the better choice. This was one of the few times where I loved the heroine a lot more than the main male characters! But rest assured, Lexie eventually does choose someone, and I’m actually really happy with who she chose.

But, the best part of the book was ROME! Rome has such a huge presence in the book, and I loved it. I’ve never been, but I SO want to, and this book only made me want to visit Rome even more! Lisa Desrochers does such an incredible job describing Rome and the different places Lexie visits. I wholeheartedly loved everything the author did to make me feel like I was there alongside Lexie, getting to see and discover the city.

Despite not really being into Trent or Alessandro, A Little Too Far was so much fun to read! It has a fantastic, hilarious heroine, and it’s set in a beautiful city. There’s never a dull moment, and you honestly have no idea what’s going to happen next. Lisa Desrochers wrote a great novel, and I’m so going to read more of her books. I’ve started already reading book 2 in the A Little Too Far series, A Little Too Much, and I’m loving it!

If you’ve read A Little Too Far (which you should have before reading A Little Too Much! Grrr if you haven’t.) then you know that poor Alessandro gets left behind back in Italy. Lexie gets her HEA, but what happens with Alessandro? I so wanted him to have his own happily ever after, and I was SO happy that I got an early copy of his book! I could not wait to jump into his book, because I really liked him in A Little Too Far. He was sweet and kind and maybe a little misguided, but he definitely still deserved to have a happy ending.

The heroine was actually really surprising to me. I had expected someone new that Alessandro would fall in love with, but she was a girl from his past. She’s actually the girl who took Alessandro’s virginity, back when they were teenagers and living in the group home. Hilary McIntyre lives in New York City, and aspires to become an actress. She’s a bit hard to like, as she’s very closed off, and doesn’t let anyone truly in. She has her demons, and a past that has something to do with Alessandro. She’d thought that she left all her troubles behind years ago after Alessandro left the group home and her, but Alessandro comes back sweeping into her life, and she doesn’t know what to do.

Hilary and Alessandro have an intense attraction, but neither wants to act on it. Hilary because of her resentment of Alessandro’s abandonment, oh and her–casual–boyfriend too of course (can’t forget about him!), and Alessandro because he’s just come out of almost becoming a priest, and his own past ghosts, which include Hilary. Nonetheless, the two do still get to know each other a little, and warm up to each other eventually, enough to become friends.

We know from A Little Too Far that Alessandro is burdened with an insane amount of guilt–about his brother, his past, the hurt he’s caused, and Hilary. He tried to atone for his sins by becoming a priest, but that didn’t work out too well for him. So he moves to NYC to see Hilary, to see how she’s doing. He feels guilty for taking advantage of her when they were younger, but the truth is, both of them were just very young and hurting, and found solace with each other.

Despite her attraction to Alessandro, Hilary still harbors anger against Alessandro. She was hurt when he left, and because of circumstances that occurred after he left as well. To me, it was pretty obvious what happened to Hilary after Alessandro left, but other than that, I really enjoyed A Little Too Far. I wasn’t completely IN LOVE with it, but I highly enjoyed reading it. Hilary and Alessandro both have to face their pasts if they ever want a chance at finding love and having their happily ever after, and I was hooked onto their journey of romance and self-discovery.

Like Italy in A Little Too Far, NYC has a huge presence in A Little Too Much, and I loved it! Hilary and Alessandro both dedicate one day a week to discover the city that never sleeps, and their trips are so sweet, heartwarming, and meaningful. These trips are what bring them closer, and they get to know and understand each other so much better. NYC felt alive, and Lisa Desrochers has such great skill in making the city seem like another character.

I was so excited for Alessandro’s story, and it didn’t disappoint! It was fun to read, there were sweet and sexy moments, some angst, and overall, just a great read. Now I can’t wait for the third book!

A Little Too Hot is my favorite so far of the series! Lisa Desrochers gives us another exciting, sexy book in this fantastic series. It went in such a different direction than I expected, and I loved that! To be honest, I wasn’t really feeling it in the first 25% of the book. There was nothing really new or special about ALTH, but then PLOT TWIST! The book took such a drastic turn, and it really perked me up, and I started enjoying the book more and more. So for those who feel like giving up in the beginning of the book, don’t! You have to finish because you’re in for a wild ride–there’s tons of action, sexual tension, and thrills!

Samantha was introduced in the first book of the series as Lexie’s best friend who was in love with Trent, Lexie’s step-brother and now fiancé (yeah–long story). After Trent broke up with Sam to be with Lexie, Sam just kept spiraling down–she loses her best friend, she parties harder and harder, she gets kicked out of school, she gets kicked out by her mother and she has nowhere to live. But her friend Jonathan ends up hooking her up a job as a dancer. She’s not a stripper, but she does provocatively for dance for men.

On her first dance, Sam totally kills it–because there’s a man who catches her eye who’s watching her. She wants impress him, and she does. His name is Harrison, and he is hot hot hot! Sam has never felt the way she feels about Harrison before, not even when she was in love with Trent. Harrison makes her feel alive and sexy. They talk and get to know each other more and more, but there’s always an underlying tension between them. It’s obvious the two want more, but Sam’s job has a hands-off policy with clients, and Harrison is one.

Here I was smoothly going along reading this book, not really loving it, but not hating it either, when out of the blue, Lisa Desrochers completely pulls the rug out from under me and shocks the hell out of me! There is a MAJOR plot twist that I absolutely didn’t see coming! Props to the author for the fantastic, surprising twist! This was when the book really captured my attention and had me hooked. I don’t want to spoil anything, because the shock from the twist is just so jaw-dropping and you never see it coming! Loved this part of the book!

Everything started picking up after this–we learn who Harrison really is and the action in the book intensifies immensely. Sam is thrust unknowingly into an even more crappy circumstance, and I totally admired her for her continuous strength and snark. She’s a stubborn, feisty, energetic girl, and she develops into someone even stronger. She’s quirky, likable, and relatable, and a wonderful heroine.

Harrison is delish! I loved the sexual tension between him and Sam, and I loved how they couldn’t really act on their feelings quite yet. Lisa Desrochers does an incredible job building up the tension and intensity between these two characters. Harrison is a perfect match for Sam–he doesn’t back down from her stubbornness, he’s tough when he needs to be, but he’s also got a softer, sweeter side to him as well. Sam and Harrison have to spend a lot of time together, and I loved how the romance between them built up slowly. They don’t immediately jump into bed together even though they want to. They can feel a connection between them, and they grow to care for each other so much, even though they shouldn’t. They’re my favorite couple of the series!

A Little Too Hot is hot, funny, and full of thrills. You won’t be able to put it down after that crazy plot twist, and you won’t want to! The book is fast-paced, the action and twists are so well done, the romance is sweet and sexy, and it easily became my favorite of the series.
