A Lowcountry Bride A Novel
Reviews

It's getting harder to fall in love with romance books. It's either a hit or a miss. Never in-between. And unfortunately, it was a miss for A Lowcountry Bride. I really tried to like A Lowcountry Bride but I just did not like the writing style. It was more of explaining and summarizing than actions and dialogue between the characters. I could not get past it. I felt I was reading cliff notes rather than reading a romance book.

2.5/5 *hangs head* I really wanted to love this but alas I didn't. To be honest the formula created for this book should have made this a slam dunk. Small town + Big City Wedding Designer + Grieving Single Father. What is there not to like??? The execution of it all, that's what. Often times it felt like the author was rushing to get the main characters together rather than exploring depths of the relationships. Large issues would be presente but quickly solved without showing what changed the tides. A lot of this felt unrealistic. However one thing that was very real was the historical context of the Dylan Roof church massacre. Note that is a large trigger warning for this book and should be taken into consideration while reading this. Personally, I had a moment while reading this as it coincided with the verdict of him being sentence to death was being released as I read this. While this book may not be to my liking, I'm hoping that others will find enjoyment in the love story as it POC centric and inspirational.
