Georgie Archibald has had enough of her mother's blind dates for her. She wants to find love on her own terms so she travels to Vernazza (chosen by spinning the globe) to get away and to find her future husband. On her way to Vernazza, she has to take a train. Unfortunately, Georgie gets motion sickness and she's not facing the front. After throwing up in the train, she lands in Vernazza only to faint. Gianluca is out and about with his cousin Massimo when he sees Georgie faint. When Georgie comes to, she thinks she's been kidnapped but once things are sorted, she can't help but wanting to know more about quiet Gianluca.

In my dream he'd just stripped me down to nothing and bent me like a pretzel, but in real life, he still hated me. Also, in real life, I was nowhere near flexible enough for that.

Georgie has to be the most hilarious character I've ever read about. I lost count over how many times I laughed and grinned because of her. She's a very real, honest character. Even though her family has tons of money (her brother is a Duke), Georgie isn't one to boast about it. She's very down-to-earth and loves the simple things in life. Another thing that makes Georgie stand out to me is how persistent she is through the whole novel. You see, Gianluca and she don't have the best relationship in the beginning. He doesn't want to see her or talk to her, yet she's always there wanting to get to know him, no matter if he's rude.

God, she was exhausting. The persistent positivity, the sheer stubbornness. If the woman put her mind to it, I bet she could make herself the prime minister of England in two weeks flat. [...] She was a moving locomotive; I could either get out of her way or let her roll right over me.

Gianluca has a tormented past that he can't seem to get over. He doesn't want to fall in love, but Georgie is always there and he can't seem to get her out of his mind. Both of them are working on renovating Gianluca's grandma's bed and breakfast and Georgie always has one-sided conversations since Gianluca really doesn't want to talk to her. But it comes to a point that without even knowing it, Luca has slowly let her get under his skin and he looks forward to working with her.

"It's a reward system. Every time I get you to talk, I reward myself with a piece of chocolate."

I was making grabby hands at the romance. It was a slow-burn romance that was so painful but so addictive! It went from Gianluca barely talking to Georgie, to him being kind and actually talking to her, to forming a great friendship, to falling in love. I mean, if this isn't the best type of romance, I don't know what it is.

Now THIS is a romantic comedy! My cheeks hurt so much from all the grinning I've done while reading this novel. I'd say it's sometimes hard to make me laugh out loud while reading, but this book had me laughing so much with all the quirky quotes and Georgie's outspoken personality. And not once did it feel fake. The author made the comedy seem so effortless and real and I was loving it!

The setting was very bit of charming. Vernazza felt like a dream, but real. I could imagine myself walking the streets of the square, watching the sunset on the rocks at the beach, or simply feeling at home. That's R.S. Grey's writing for you. She makes you feel like you're one of the characters in her stories. Her writing lures you into the story and traps you until you can't get enough. I was enamored by how vivid Grey portrayed the whole story. So much so, that I need to make a trip to Vernazza and stay there for at least a year. Forget Rome, Venice, Paris, Bora Bora, and all those places. I only want to go to Vernazza and never leave.

Overall, A Place in the Sun is the definition of a romantic comedy novel, with a slow-burn sexy romance like no other, and a setting that will make you forget where you are and then give you a serious case of wanderlust. This has to be R.S. Grey's best novel to date.

After reading the blurb for A Place in the Sun, it took me a couple minutes to remember who Georgie was. I know, I know. But in my defense, I read a lot of books and the names run together after awhile. Anyhow, when I realized she was Freddie's little sister (from Settling the Score), I was super excited. It all started to come back to me and I was excited to read her story. And you know what? I loved it. 

I adore Rachel's books. They have this great combination of humor, heart, feels and sexy times. And sometimes there's even a little angst thrown in for good measure. This was one of those times. I adored Georgie from the start. I loved how she was taking charge of her life and going on an adventure. I mean, who hasn't wanted to leave everything behind and run away to have new experiences at least once or twice in their lives? I know I have. But, I digress. Her Italian getaway certainly didn't start off how she'd planned, but being rescued by a smoking hot, broody Italian man didn't hurt. Oh, what a meet cute! 

I'm a big fan of grumpy heroes in books, so it was easy to be intrigued by Gianluca in the beginning. As I learned more about his painful history, my heart absolutely broke for him. To find a love like he had and ultimately lose it in such a painful way? Devastating. I understood why he was sheltering his heart... especially from a certain British beauty whose time in Italy came with an expiration date. Or... does it? 

Georgie and Gianluca were amazing together. It wasn't pretty and it wasn't perfect in the beginning. They were both overcoming their pasts. The future was uncertain for each of them. There was an initial attraction, but it became so much more than something just physical. I loved reading along as each of them began to let down their guard and get to know each other as they worked side by side to renovate Gianluca's old family inn. There were plenty of feels as Gianluca's defenses were stripped away and he began to open himself to the possibility of a real future. 

A Place in the Sun was the total package — and one of my favorite of Rachel's books to date. I can't recommend it highly enough.

My crush on Gianluca reminded me of the sort I used to have in grade school. It was a quiet, volatile sort of infatuation, the kind rooted mostly in fantasy and lifelike dreams.

Our lips melted together as he kissed me. Hard. Aggressive. Impatient. If kisses could kill, ours would have. It drew the life right out of me.

YESSSSSS!!! Guys, R.S. Grey is now OFFICIALLY an auto-buy author for me!!! I’ve read her last few books when they released, and I loved every. single. one. of. them! Major score!!! I love finding authors that somehow totally get me and know how to write what I like to read. R.S. Grey, well, she TOTALLY gets me. :)

Georgie (who we meet quickly in a previous book) has had enough of her mother intruding in her life, pushing her to find a husband. After many failed set-ups with men she finds far less than appealing, Georgie packs up and heads to Italy to spend some time looking for a mate… or to at least get away from her mother’s forced date attempts. Georgie heads to Vernazza where she wakes up in the bed of a local, who also happens to be HAWT, and realizes this search for someone to marry may end up being easier than she thinks. That is, until the man, Gianluca, shows no interest at all in Georgie or her life. This is where the fun begins, guys. Buckle your seat-belts… you’re in for a fantastically messy and fun ride!

I love when a romance author can write a book filled with everything that I love the most, including a slow-burn romance, a gorgeous Italian setting, tan, gorgeous characters, wine, waves, and, of course, romance drama. This is the type of story I look far and wide for. I end up reading so many romance stories that don’t meet my expectations, all to find authors like this that write romances that I could re-read over and over again.

If I haven’t made it clear, I LOVE THIS BOOK!!! I love everything R.S. Grey writes, let’s be honest here. But I loved this one especially for several reasons, one being that I’ve wanted to travel to Italy for my entire life. It’s a dream of mine. Reading this story transported me to Vernazza right along with this gang of incredible characters. I could picture it before my eyes, smell the different foods, even taste the glorious wine. It’s like I was right there with them. What an experience!

At this point, I’ll wrap it up and just say READ THIS BOOK! Please and thank you. If you’re a romance fan, this is a must-read. AND to make it even easier for you, I’m going to be giving away a copy!! If I can introduce this book to even one more person, I will consider this review a success.
