Excellent book. This book follows a proof-filled version of Malkiel's Elements of Investing. Excellent book that proclaims the gospel of index funds, to be wary of financial terms such as beta and CAPM, and some tips on picking stocks.

Although I don't agree with the author on Efficient Market Theory, the book itself is undoubtedly of great value as an intro to the world of investing. It lays out all the basics that one needs to know to get started in dealing with financial instruments. The book provides good overview of financial markets, history of bubbles, valuation methods; some academic insights to risk evaluation and portfolio management theories and contains indispensable amount of useful advices in the last part. 
I'm happy to have picked and read this book. I believe it gave me confidence and basic knowledge in order to continue further on my journey to learning value investing.

With the prevailing wisdom changing on an almost daily basis, Burton G. Malkiel's reassuring and vastly informative volume remains the best investment guide money can buy.

A good handbook for any person who's interested in investing, whether or not they choose to go further into investing as a profession. This guide achieved that delicate balance between informing and telling too much - a very large pitfall in which a lot of finance books fall into - which makes it a good read for seasoned (veering on value school of thoughts) and casual investors alike.

It's a great book for anyone who is interested into investing. The author explains in a very detail way why index funds are the best way for the ordinary, average investor. Some parts are very terse though and it's not a book that is easy to read. Nevertheless I recommend this to everyone who wants to start investing and wants to understand how much and where to invest.

Using the dot-com crash as an object lesson in how not to manage your portfolio, this is a gimmick-free, irreverent and informative guide to navigating the turbulence of the market and managing investments with confidence.

Overall message: have a diversified portfolio of stocks, bonds and other type of financial assets in an index fund. There's some general discussion of why this works but if you're looking for long term wealth for retirement this is a passive, hassle free way of generating money through compound interests. Good read but not an easy read if you know nothing of financial terms and stock market jargon.
