I wanted to find out what hype is all about and to read the manga before watching the movie. I totally didn't expect to get hit by a truckload of FEELS. It was an emotional roller coaster ride from the very beginning. I was hooked and my eyes were glued to the pages all the way to the end.

A quite interesting story, as usual I'm baffled by the violence experienced by Japanese students with bullying. The only problem I had was that the second part of the colume is basically the 1st art retold from a different perspective and it was way too similar to the 1st part for me to remain interested. 
I think volume 2 will be way better if it doesn't use the same process to tell the story.

2.5 stars | Excuse the rant, but YIKES. So this is a story about bullying: Shoya is a ~daredevil who bullies people because he's bored and Shoka is the poor girl being bullied because she's deaf... I mean, I enjoyed the story, but the characters are ALL horrible! Shoya is so rude to his mother (he calls her an old hag and she basically thinks its funny), he's being awful to Shoka who can't really defend herself (but fear not cause karma is a bitch? no.) and nobody ever calls him out on it until it's fucking too late and things have gone too far. The teacher is just as hopeless. I kid you not, when another teacher suggests they all learn sign language he basically goes: "meh, why should we, it's not going to help"!!! The entire class is mean/annoyed with Shoya because she's "slowing everybody down". And Shoya's mother tells Shoko he has a "vulgar face, just like his mother". WHAT IS GOING ON PEOPLE?

Not the ending I would have liked but it was still so adorable. It felt nice to finally have a sweet volume with less heartbreaking content. Shoko and Shoya have changed so much, they have finally found their friendship and determined where they want to go with their lives, as much as anyone can really know when they are teenagers. I wish there was one more volume to show more of their lives but that's just because I'm greedy, I love the relationship between Shoko and Shoya. It took so long and so much work for them to get there. Truly a beautiful series overall.

This series is one of my favourites and there aren't enough words to put all my thoughts into a review. But if you haven't read this manga (or watched the anime) then go do that, and be filled with too many feelings at once

it’s the end and i’m so sad about it. i want more! i wanted a relationship to form but i’m also a bit happy with how it went. it was almost a bittersweet ending, and this series was just so quick and entertaining all the way, honestly had me hooked. the story of a bully trying to right his wrongs and the journey of facing the people he knew with a troubled last between them and facing new friends and new journeys and accomplishing what he couldn’t have imagined. honestly i loved it.

also can we talk about how odd shoya’s sister is and her brazilian boyfriend?? she’s only in the series twice, i found it very odd, like i think if you removed them and their other daughter then it wouldn’t have been so confusing.

the message of bullying in this series and the journey of overcoming it whether you were recovering or giving is both interesting and shocking. i kept wondering if this is what it’s like for some people, and if they really had to work though so many conflicting emotions to overcome it.

okay wow, so that ending really had me shocked and i didn’t see it coming but also i kind of had a feeling, you know? i’m glad it went the way it did, though. this series is just soooo emotional and deep and dark when it comes to revealing emotions and feelings and secrets and hard hitting when it comes to bullying.

the thing i love about this series is that it discusses very important topics and deals with friendships and just overall building a relationship with someone. i love the sister relationship between yuzuru and shoko, they’re just so cute. the only problem i have is when it becomes a little confusing, like some characters are brought in and they’re just there for show or sometimes the dialogue is confusing, but overall it’s very enjoyable and i’m obsessed with the story!!

I loved the movie and so far the manga is almost the same! I'm not really a fan of some of Shoto's behavior, and how quickly the fandom forgave him. That being said, the foreshadowing in the beginning was really funny, and I'm interested to see where the movie differs. I know this review is all over the place but it's a really amazing story.

Der Anfang bzw der Aufbau des Mangas war etwas konfus für mich - konnte mich aber relativ schnell daran gewöhnen. Mir scheint es, als wäre der erste Band nur die Einführung. Ich bin einfach mal gespannt, was der zweite Teil zu bieten hat =)

A gorgeous story that handles Disability, Bullying, Trauma, and Mental Health. It is done well and I ended up getting emotional.  Some trigger warnings, please check online before reading.

ARE YOU AFRAID OF HER? Shoya's decided to do everything he can to make up for how terribly he treated Shoko, his former classmate who can't hear. But more than the challenge of learning to communicate, it means facing a past he thought he'd left behind forever.
