Oh my gosh I LOVED this book. Blue stocking heroine, rakish (but actually heart of gold) Lord and a fun adventure through to Scotland. Add in the only one bed trope and it was everything I wanted it to be. Dare's writing is unique and witty and her characters are lovable. I can't wait to read the rest of these books.

I absolutely LOVED this book! Enemies to friends to lovers to soulmates 😍 The characters were complicated and dynamic as well as lovable. The dialogue was smart and funny. Basically Tangled as a regency bodice ripper. I can confidently say I’m a fan of romance novels now.

...This is one Tessa Dare I really didn't care for. Collin just irritated me so much and I found the plot completely unrealistic. Honestly I just wanted it to end.

4.5 stars, rounded up because this was a lot of fun. I only started reading historical romance last year, but Tessa Dare's lighthearted rom-coms are clear standouts. This is one of my favorites so far. The episodic nature of the road trip kept the pace moving, and the progression of Colin and Minerva's relationship was sweet and genuine. I've also noticed that one of my favorite HR tropes is a heroine who's told she can't do something because it will RUIN HER FOREVER and her response is, "Yes, I'm aware, are you coming along or what?"

Minerva fears Spindle Cove's most notorious rake will soon be proposing to her sister, a marriage Minerva fears is only for money. To thwart Colin's plans, Minerva instead proposes he falsely elope with HER to Scotland, all so Minerva can present evidence of an odd, massive lizard type creature to the Edinburgh Geological Society. She's certain her plaster cast of this lizard's footprint will win her the five-hundred-pound prize, which she'll give to Colin to tide him over until his inheritance kicks in. Colin is totally reluctant and tries to assure Minerva he will NOT be proposing to anyone, let alone her sister, but he is soon swept up in an adventure that takes the two on a muddy, treacherous romp complete with false identities, swoony sexual tension, and one large trunk containing a dino footprint.

This was just wonderful. Minerva is a fantastic heroine who is focused on her studies, is curious, and not timid in the least. She knows what she wants, society be damned, and will go after it. Colin is not a typical Romance hero but is instead funny, insecure, and super sweet (along with being quite snarky). While of course Minerva is a virgin, I appreciated how Tessa Dare took the time to have her characters learn together.

Super fun, and just what I needed right now, an uplifting, light, and hilarious read!

My opinions haven't changed much from my first read, a true gem.
