Jinn Sanctuary

Jinn Sanctuary

Aaron Vlek2013
Azami and Selim, Rafiq, Michaela, Ramsay and the others have recovered from the big storm and moved on to new challenges in their lives. Azami has begun life at the university under the tutelage of Michaela and someone has even caught his eye, someone very interesting. But then a late night fire at the bakery, Ramsay Hamza's bakery where Azami has been living and apprenticing, changes everything and throws Azami into a world he has come to wonder really exists or not; The world of the Jinn. Jinn Sanctuary reunites readers of Jinn Theory with old friends and introduces new people to the colorful mix. There's Nurhan Sahin, a once-wealthy dowager and friend of Rafiq's; Shaykh Khalid Edrissi, head of an order of dervishes who is home to some of those who'd gotten mixed up with Shaykh Hassan Abusalem, people like Azami's and Rafiq's friend Suhayl; the shaykh's daughter Ceyda, a colorful and defiant blogger and political hacker; twins Sadri and Abdi whose idealism has taken a dark turn; and of course, the jinn; one good, one bad, and one insane. But are they really what they seem? Jinn Sanctuary explores the Sufi conceptions of Contraction and Expansion in one possible narrative that reconciles all opposites and reveals a beautifully sublime order in the world; one ordained by the will of Allah, and as close to us all as our own jugular. It spans the centuries as one of the jinn reveals his history among the sons of Adam, and the daughters of Eve; and, someone else has returned, under highly unusual circumstances. Jinn Sanctuary is the newest installment in The Jinn Quartet and acts both as a stand-alone sequel to Jinn Theory as well as Number 2 in the series.
