The Last Field Party

This book was completely unnecessary. I truly thought it would be an epilogue book of seeing these couples that got together during high school settle in to there adult lives together. The conclusion I wanted for each of their books. But instead it added unnecessary drama to their stories. We finally got a conclusion to Asa ans Ezmita that should have been in the first book because of how anticlimactic is was. West and Maggie went through having this random person coming out who still had feelings for Maggie over a decade later. Only thing I agreed with was talking about his Mom from the aftermath of their book because it was never discussed, but now I’m not so sure I liked how it was done here. Brady and Riley dealt more with Brady’s issues with his father more than anything which carried over from their book. Gunner and Willa made the most sense after their ending but it was nice to see their relationship too because their book only have them together for about 5% of it. Ryker and Aurora went through her being insecure about him being a professional football player and not being enough for him. But honestly if he fell in love with you in less than a week and hasn’t given any indication of being unhappy then I think you’re good. Especially when he is affectionate and communicative.  Now let’s get to the park that annoyed me the most Nash and Tallulah, I never really felt these characters grow in their book and this proved me right. How we had a pretty much identical situation happen to Tallulah and instead of talking to her Nash calls her a bitch and storms away. Like cue in the “If I had a nickel sound.” I hated that so much because he completely disregarded her again and assumed the worst again and blames here again. I was so angry at that part and then went from not speaking to her for a year to making out with her in 30 seconds probably gave me the worst whiplash of my life. Honestly am glad to be done with the series. I’m comparing it to a bad tv show that you just had to watch it all the way through continuously saying that “It just can’t get worse.” Yet it proved it to me time and time again. 

Priscilla Stanfield

I have been waiting eagerly for this book since 2020! But I ended up so disappointed instead. They acted like high schoolers instead of adults. This made me look differently at Nash, West, Brady, and Gunner. Nash didn't give Tallulah a chance to explain and they went straight to hooking up before Tallulah explained what really happened. This was a chance to have a serious discussion about sexual assault and it wasn't taken. West's behavior came off as creepy and almost stalker-like. Brady said: "I didn't want Byrony around the woman who had been the reason for my parents' divorce" and it didn't sit right with me. He acknowledges that it was his dad's fault but there was this line. His dad made the choice to cheat on his mom. That woman did not cheat on Brady's mom (who btw deserved so much better). Gunner made a big life decision without consulting Willa, but she was happy about it in the end. Maybe I built these characters up in my head? I would have been happy with Ezmita and Asa's continuation and the dedication of the field to Hunter. It was a special and good way to go. These books carried me through quarantine and made me so happy, I'm just sad this is where the final book took us in the way of characters
