Received this book as an ARC in exchange for my honest review

I thought Maddie and Dempsey’s story was an easy and light read for the most part, but I felt the characters fell a little flat in the beginning, and by the time you really started to get a feel for them the majority of the book was over. And even though this can be read as a stand-alone, I did feel a bit out of place with the backstory of some of the side characters and how they were all involved. That being said, Abby does a great job of explaining the major aspects of their backstories while leaving it open enough that if you haven’t read their stories you definitely will want to by the end of the book! Overall, I did really enjoy the book and am definitely interested in reading more of Abby’s work in the future!

I love the banter Maddie and Dempsey had in this book. I’ve never read a “forbidden love” book in the sense that families didn’t like each other. I liked that Abby continued the banter even through the back and forth of “should they, shouldn’t they.”

Dempsey is a caretaker at heart, even if he wants to put himself first it’s hard for him to. I totally relate to that and reading through his journey and thoughts as he put himself first was really lovely. Abby does a great job at showing the inner dialogue and turmoil a person faces when they think they need to do something but wants to do something else.

This book had me in tears and laughing all throughout it! Not to mention the spice in this book. We love a male main character who knows what he wants and likes to pleasure a woman🥵
