It is common practice to use the notion of “view”s to understand/explain complex entities. A “view” is a model that focuses on a single aspect of a complex entity seen from a specific angle which helps us comprehend it and reason about it. This book presents such a “view” about the complex human entity, focusing on their social behavior in work environments. After categorizing them based on their tendency to help others into three groups givers, takers and matchers, the author claims that givers are both the least and the most successfull of all. He explains why it is so, providing a good number of research and anectodes to support his view. Also gives tips to relentless givers to enable them to defend themselves against other groups and be successful. The author uses other well-received books like Drive and Quite (other “view”s) as reference points. If you read them you will enjoy the material presented here more, although it is by no means a prerequisite to start with any of them. All in all the “view” created by the author is a great additon to ones collection of “view”s about human nature
