I loved Carlos and his love affair with food. The depiction of grief and how some cope with a traumatic loss is vivid and realistic and how he ended up on the island and working in the restaurant rang true for me. His struggle to work hard and excel and the tiny jobs Chef was giving to him made me love him all the more. Emma, though. I did not love her, I didn't even like her. I found her character to be shallow and flighty and not sympathetic at all. In the end, her character is what keeps me from rating this book as high as I wanted.

I genuinely loved this book! There's so much in it that you would love it even more. The characters were so good and funny at some point, and Carlos's character development was so heartwarming. 

The setting and plot walk of this book was written beautifully and so dreamy because from the description itself it was really delivered well. And you know, it talks about self-worth, passion, and dream plusssss cooking! I love food! 

Overall, this book has been so heartwarming. But I, however, did not really enjoy it for some reasons. It was slow-paced and I always end up sleeping every time I pick it up.
