The Fall of the House of Usher

Give me gothic literature or give me death.

Well, what can I say. Poe can create such a scary, creepy atmosphere that there's no need for anyone to be violently murdered or mysteriously disappeared in his stories. He can make your spine tingle with a single paragraph with just the way he writes.

This story, is about a man going to see his ill friend in a house that's too... alive, dare I say. And then creepy stuff happen all over the place. Every single description of the house is hands down the best description of any haunted house you'll read in your life. Ever. None can describe as dark and gritty as Poe. Or... oh well, if anyone can, recommend me some stuff to read and I'll think about it.

Gothic atmosphere and darkness everywhere. Now I just need to read more Poe stories. Good thing I haven't read everything by him yet.

"Rikk-tikk-tikki-tikki-tchk!" A classic story from Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book, adapted and illustrated by award-winning artist Jerry Pinkney, this is the tale of Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, a fearless young mongoose. Soon after a flood washes Rikki into the garden of an English family, he comes face-to-face with Nag and Nagaina, two giant cobras. The snakes are willing to attack Rikki, and even the human family who lives there, to claim the garden and house for themselves. But they do not count on the heart and pride of the brave little mongoose.

For some reason I thought the cobras killed Rikki-Tikki-Tavi.

Una historia oscura, que me ha intrigado a pesar de lo breve y me ha dejado con ganas de conocer más a Poe.

Edgar Allen Poe

The Fall of the House of Usher by Edgar Allan Poe Follow the macabre events that sweep the narrator into the haunted world of Roderick Usher-a morbid recluse and slave to fear-whose descent into madness inevitably brings the great House of Usher to its most sinister fate.

Burns

This selection of Poe's critical writings, short fiction and poetry demonstrates an intense interest in aesthetic issues and the astonishing power and imagination with which he probed the darkest corners of the human mind. The Fall of the House of Usher describes the final hours of a family tormented by tragedy and the legacy of the past. In the Tell Tale Heart, a murderer's insane delusions threaten to betray him, while stories such as The Pit and the Pendulum and the Cask of Amontillado explore extreme states of decadence, fear and hate.
