What an atmospheric and gripping read. I didn’t want to put this down. The writing was beautiful, it was such a lovely way of describing the island, it’s inhabitants and their feelings. As a multi-POV story that also switches between present day and the past I thought the pacing was perfect.

I think for a mystery novel the perspectives were introduced at exactly the right times to keep you intrigued and either throw you off what you thought had happened or lead you down an entirely different theory.

The romance in this was also beautifully handled. It’s complex and heartbreaking at times but those feelings of uncertainty and overwhelming love, both romantic and familial, are portrayed really well.

Both August and Emery as our two main characters were equally compelling to read.

The plot sort of swayed between predictable and surprising, but even when it was predictable it was still so enjoyable to read because of the writing and the characters.

Overall I loved this book and I just wish there was more! 🍎🌳🔥🌧🌊
